JinkoSolar and Xiaodong New Energy sign cooperation agreement: Solar module manufacturer JinkoSolar has announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement with Xiaodong New Energy. As part of the agreement, dubbed the 100 MWh industrial and commercial energy storage SunGiga cooperation agreement, the 2 companies aim to jointly plan the development direction of the future energy storage business. SunGiga is JinkoSolar's liquid-cooled industrial and commercial energy storage system (ESS). Further details of the agreement are currently unknown.
Recently, JinkoSolar's Deputy General Manager of R&D Oscar Zhang talked about achieving record cell efficiencies with TOPCon on TaiyangNews High Efficiency Solar Technologies Conference Day 1.
Qingdian Group's 10 GW monocrystalline silicon ingot slicing fab online: Qingdian Silicon Industry Co., Ltd. has announced the commissioning and acceptance of its 10 GW 1st phase monocrystalline silicon ingot slicing facility. The Qingdian Group subsidiary will invest over RMB 4.02 billion ($563 million) in this 60 GW facility, which involves 10 GW each of crystal-pulling and slicing, as well as related supporting facilities. The Phase I 10 GW production line, once fully up and running, is expected to generate RMB 7.6 billion ($1.06 billion) in sales revenues while creating more than 1,400 jobs.
China MIIT solicits opinions on Comprehensive Standardization Technical System for PV industry: China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has publicly solicited feedback on the "Comprehensive Standardization Technical System for the Solar PV Industry (2023 Edition)" (Draft for Comments). The document outlines that the comprehensive standardization technical system for the solar PV industry encompasses national standards, industry standards, and group standards released by selected national organizations.
Currently, there are a total of 796 standards, including existing standards, standards under revision, standards planned for revision, and standards under research. The framework of the system comprises 9 major categories and 44 subcategories, covering foundational general standards, PV manufacturing equipment, PV materials, PV cells and modules, PV components, PV power generation systems, PV applications, smart PVs, and green PVs.
MIIT recently reported that the country has produced over 403 GW of crystalline silicon cells through the 1st 10 months of 2023 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
China adds 163.88 GW of solar PV capacity for 11M 2023: The latest data from China's National Energy Administration (NEA) states that the country added 163.88 GW of solar PV generation capacity for the period of January to November 2023. This is a remarkable growth of 98.17% YoY. The country's cumulative capacity as of the end of November was 557.62 GW. The data also shows that the country's new wind power generation grew 18.87% YoY or 41.39 GW, reflecting a growth of 18.87% YoY.
Yunnan Province announces 2nd batch of new energy projects for 2023: The Development and Reform Commission and the Energy Bureau of Yunnan Province have issued a notice that outlines its implementation plan for the 2nd batch of new energy projects for 2023. The notice mentions a total of 114 projects for a total installed capacity of about 10.4 GW. Solar PV projects take the lion's share of this capacity, numbering 91 projects for a total of 7.3 GW. Wind power projects total 23 in number for an installed capacity of 3.1 GW.
