Huasun to supply 3 GW Everest G12R modules to Europe: Solar panel manufacturer Huasun has announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with a well-known European solar project investor in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The company announced the launch of the Everest G12R series last month (see China Solar PV News Snippets). According to the agreement, Huasun will continue to provide its new Everest series G12R heterojunction (HJT) rectangular module products to the European Balkans from next year. These products will be mainly used in ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) power generation projects. The 1st phase of the 150 MW project in Bulgaria is expected to be delivered in the first half of 2024, followed by the 240 MW Phase 2. Huasun says it will ship 3 GW of high-efficiency heterojunction (HJT) rectangular modules to continental Europe over the next 3 years. The company’s main focus will be on Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia, Turkey and Croatia. Huasun announced the launch of Everest G12R last. Huasun has been ranked among the top 3 in TaiyangNews Top Modules List since September 2023 (see Top Solar Modules Listing – November 2023).

DMEGC Solar gets IEC 63209 and EPD certification: Vertically integrated solar module manufacturer DMEGC Solar has announced that it has received IEC 63209 and EPD certification. For IEC 63209 testing, the company says that its n-type modules showed significantly lower degradation rates than the IEC standard of 5%. Degradation rates under all basic and stringent test sequences, including TC, PID, DH, UV, DML, were found to be within 2%. The company says that the results surpassed PERC modules of the same size, and even turned out better than the majority of n-type modules of the same type. Further, no significant changes were observed before and after EL testing.

With regards to EPD certification, the company said that it conducted a detailed analysis in its life cycle assessment and environmental product declaration report. The analysis covered the environmental impact of the company’s solar modules throughout the entire process from raw material procurement, production, transportation, installation to disposal. The EPD Italy certification obtained in this process is internationally recognized, aiding consumers in choosing environmentally favorable products. It serves as a market access condition and a crucial reference indicator for the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the new solar cell Regulation.

China’s PV manufacturing snapshot for September to October 2023: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China has released the status of the national PV manufacturing industry for the September to October 2023 period. A few highlights below:

  • China’s polysilicon production reached 236,600 tons from September to October, increasing 90% year-on-year (YoY)
  • Wafer output grew to 87.95 GW from September to October, up 61% YoY
  • Crystalline silicon cell production reached 83.81 GW, up 78.7% YoY
  • Solar module production reached 79 GW, an increase of 86.7% YoY

For the first 10 months of the year, the country has produced over 403 GW of crystalline silicon cells, while exporting about $43 billion of silicon wafers, cells, and modules. In contrast, the declining trend for domestic PV product prices has continued with polysilicon and module product prices dropping 60% and 40%, respectively. Also, module exports are reported to be down 4.6% YoY.

Huamin Group’s 5 GW HJT silicon wafer fab online: Huamin Group subsidiary Hongxin New Energy has announced that its 5 GW wafer fab is online. This line forms the 1st phase of a 10 GW facility that is being built in 2 phases of 5 GW each. The 1st phase is expected to reach full capacity in March 2024. In October, Hunan Huamin Holding Group announced that it had signed a framework agreement with several of Tongwei’s subsidiaries (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

4.4 GW of Desert, Gobi, Waste Land Region project in Xinjiang grid-connected: Local media has reported that SPIC’s Alar PV station has been grid-connected, marking the full grid connection of the 4.4 GW 1st batch of the national ‘Desert, Gobi, Waste Land Region’ (Shagehuang) project in Xinjiang. These projects have been split into 3 batches, which all put together will total 37.18 GW. Xinjiang’s total installed capacity in the power grid, including the 4.4 GW 1st batch, currently stands at 137.879 GW, with the installed capacity of new energy reaching 62.038 GW.
