Trina forecasts 9M/2023 net profits up 90% to 132%; Sany Silicon Energy’s Shuozhou facility rolls out 1st ingot; Golden Photovoltaic HJT module hits 732.18 W; Risen starts shipments of rectangular TOPCon modules; Hunan Huamin and Tongwei sign multiple contracts.

Trina Solar forecasts 9M/2023 net profits to increase 90 to 132%: In its recently released performance forecast for the first 3 quarters of 2023, Trina Solar expects a net profit of RMB 4.563 billion ($625.9 million) to RMB 5.577 billion ($765 million), a year-on-year increase of 89.9% to 132.1%. Trina Solar attributes its substantial growth in operating performance to several key factors during the reporting period.

  • Rapid development in its photovoltaic (PV) product business, with significant growth in shipments of PV modules, brackets, and distributed systems.
  • A substantial increase in n-type advanced production capacity resulting in a higher sales proportion of TOPCon modules and reduced overall module production costs due to in-house n-type silicon wafer capacity.
  • The company expanded its energy storage product line and successfully grew both domestic and overseas markets, with increased shipment volumes driven by lower overall energy storage product costs due to in-house cell production and improved yield.

Trina Solar recently announced that it has secured the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for its n-type solar modules (see Day 3 Highlights From Renewable Energy India Expo 2023).

Sany Silicon Energy rolls out 1st monocrystalline ingot from Shuozhou production line: Sany Silicon Energy announced via WeChat that its Shuozhou facility has officially entered production with the rollout of the 1st monocrystalline silicon ingot. The Shuozhou facility started construction in the Pinglu Economic and Technological Development Zone in early May. The company stated that it has commenced operations at the facility within a short span of 148 days. At the end of completion of the 1st phase, the facility is expected to generate more than RMB 2 billion ($274.3 million) in annual revenues, which is expected to grow to over RMB 10 billion ($1.37 billion) by 2025 when the facility hits full production. Sany Silicon recently announced that HJT cells in a test line developed by the company using PECVD and PVD exceeded 25.29% for the first time (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Golden Photovoltaic’s HJT module power reaches up to 732.18 W: Golden Photovoltaic has announced 2 significant achievements in its module power and efficiency. Firstly, the JGYC-210-18BB HJT bifacial microcrystalline cell from its Heterojunction Cell R&D Center in Jiuquan Base has achieved a conversion efficiency of 25.6%. The company said that its Wujiang production base in Suzhou has seen improvements in module efficiency with these cells, achieving an average efficiency increase of 0.5%-0.75%. With the use of these cells, the mass production power of the JGDN132 version of the 1.2 GW production line has surged by 10-20 W, surpassing 23.6% in efficiency. Currently, mass-produced modules from this line reach an average power of 725 W, with the maximum power peaking at 732.18 W.

Risen Energy starts shipments of rectangular TOPCon modules: Recently, integrated solar PV solutions provider Risen Energy announced that it has started shipments of its mass-produced TOPCon rectangular modules based on the 182.2 x 191.6mm silicon wafer size as of the end of August 2023. The company said that it has shipped modules to Southeast Asia, Europe and other markets. Risen Energy said that this n-type TOPCon rectangular product not only implements the industry’s unified development concept, but also further improves and enriches its n-type photovoltaic module product matrix.

Huamin signs large polysilicon and wafer contracts with multiple subsidiaries of Tongwei: Hunan Huamin Holding Group has announced that it has signed a framework agreement with a number of Tongwei’s subsidiaries. Under the “Polysilicon Purchase and Sales Framework Agreement” (Contract No. 1), the company will purchase a total of 56,800 tons of primary polysilicon materials from Tongwei till December 31, 2026, with an estimated total value of RMB 5.1 billion ($699.6 million). Under the “Silicon Wafer Procurement Framework Contract” (Contract No. 2), Tongwei plans to purchase a total of 1.52 million monocrystalline silicon wafers from Huamin until December 31, 2026, with an estimated total value of RMB 4.5 billion ($617.3 million). In August, Huamin had announced that its subsidiary Honsun had signed a monocrystalline wafer sales contract with Xwoo Energy (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
