Astronergy modules at Guizhou Weining New Energy Base; Hangzhou First terminates overseas issuance of GDRs; SPIC's HJT cell & module fab online; Ideal Deposition ships 1st batch of EPD tools; Leascend secures RMB 420 million strategic financing.

Astronergy's modules at Guizhou Weining New Energy Base: PV module manufacturer Astronergy has announced that the 1st batch of Guizhou Jinyuan Weining's Phase 3 was successfully grid-connected. The 1 GW project, located in Weining County, Bijie City, consists of 5 agri-PV projects with an elevation range of 2,000 to 2,800 m. Astronergy has supplied 504 MW of its ASTRO Series high-efficiency PV modules to this project. The company says the series features high power, high efficiency, high compatibility, high quality, and low BOS and LCOE. Once at full capacity, the project is expected to produce about 550 million kWh annually, saving about 160,000 tons of standard coal and reducing about 500,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

Last month, Astronergy announced that it had received the ISO 14064 greenhouse gas verification certification and ISO 14067 product carbon footprint certification from BSI (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Hangzhou First Applied Material terminates overseas issuance of GDRs: Polymer materials developer and manufacturer Hangzhou First Applied Material has announced the termination of overseas issuance of global depositary receipts (GDRs). The company cites external factors as the reason for the decision. It said that it took the decision to terminate the issuance of GDRs overseas after careful analysis of the situation and in-depth discussions.

Recently, Hou Hongbing, Hangzhou First's technical director, presented the company's latest encapsulation solutions specifically designed for TOPCon modules on Day 1 of TaiyangNews' High Efficiency Solar Technologies 2023 – Today, Tomorrow And Beyond (see Hangzhou First's New Encapsulation Solutions Address Challenges In N-TOPcon Technology).

SPIC New Energy's 5 GW HJT cell & module fab online: SPIC New Energy has announced that its 5 GW high-efficiency heterojunction (HJT) solar cell & module fab is now officially online. The facility, incubated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and SPIC New Energy, is located in Longgang City, Wenzhou. It is claimed to be the 1st large-scale production base for high-efficiency copper gridline HJT (C-HJT) solar cells. C-HJT cells use copper instead of expensive silver for the gridlines, which the company claims helps it achieve one of the lowest LCOE numbers.

Ideal Deposition ships 1st batch of PV cell EPD tool: Ideal Deposition has announced that it has shipped the 1st batch of photovoltaic slicing cell Edge Passivation Deposition (EPD) tool. The company says that this also marks EPD's entry into mass production. It explains further that a number of companies have reached cooperation with it and have verified the positive effects of EPD in TOPCON, HJT, PERC and other cell technologies. The company claims that it has applied for a number of patents related to the technology, and has also obtained many patents from the State Intellectual Property Office.

Leascend Photovoltaic receives RMB 420 million in strategic financing: Leascend Photovoltaic has announced that it has obtained RMB 420 million ($58.6 million) in strategic financing from Tianjin Sanwu and Ever Stote Capital. The company says that the financing will help it further expand its production capacity, strengthen its R&D capabilities, expand its market, and enhance its competitiveness in the industry.

Leascend Technology recently announced its intention to increase the capital in its subsidiary, Meishan Leascend Technology (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
