Jolywood receives IEC 62788-2-1:2023 backsheet certification from TÜV Rheinland; LONGi updates prices for p-type M10 wafers; JA Solar starts operations at Dongtai Base; S.C New Energy ships 5-in-1 clustered perovskite coating equipment; Fortune Energy and HIUV New Materials to set up facilities in Pinghu, Zhejiang.

Jolywood receives IEC 62788-2-1:2023 backsheet certification from TÜV Rheinland: Jolywood New Materials, a subsidiary of Jolywood, has announced that it has received the world's 1st IEC 62788-2-1: 2023 front and backsheet safety requirements standard certification from the German independent testing organization TÜV Rheinland. This certification, recognized as the most comprehensive and authoritative evaluation standard, is the industry's 1st for the safety requirements of front and backsheets for photovoltaic (PV) modules. This standard will be directly referenced by IEC 61730-1. Jolywood said that it has been actively participating in the formulation and revision of domestic and international standards, and has successfully developed a thermal endurance test program for backsheet coatings, which was cited by IEC 62788-2-1. Recently, Jolywood introduced JSIM, which it claims solves the problem with dual-glass packaging for TOPCon modules (see Jolywood Solar's Special Injected Metallization).

LONGi releases updated prices for p-type M10 wafers: Vertically integrated solar manufacturer LONGi Solar has released updated prices for its monocrystalline silicon wafer p-type M10 150μm thickness (182/247mm). The price as of September 25, 2023 is RMB 3.10 ($0.383) vs. RMB 3.38 ($0.417) in August. This price decline is in contrast to a rise of RMB 0.45 ($0.06) from a price RMB 2.93 ($0.365) in July.

JA Solar's Dongtai base starts operations: Vertically integrated solar module manufacturer JA Solar announced that the 10 GW cell + 10 GW module facility at its Dongtai base has been put into production. The company said that it took only 38 days from inspection to formal signing, and only 100 days from full-scale construction to module rollout. Last week, JA Solar announced that its 10 GW wafer + 10 GW cell facility in the Shijiazhuang High-tech Zone had been put into operation (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

S.C New Energy ships 5-in-1 clustered perovskite laminated vacuum coating equipment: Solar PV production equipment manufacturer S.C New Energy Technology has announced that it has successfully produced and shipped the 5-in-1 clustered perovskite laminated vacuum coating equipment after passing the customer's FAT acceptance. The company says that this coating equipment will have a significant impact on the field of thin-film preparation. Calling it revolutionary, S.C New Energy says that this technology integrates RPD, multi-source evaporation, RF sputtering, pulsed DC sputtering and DC sputtering. It can continuously deposit various thin films in a vacuum environment, including TCO, Cu, SnO2, NiO, etc., while maintaining the best characteristics of the interface. The company expects its equipment to support research in the fields of materials science, electronic engineering and optoelectronics.

7 GW TOPCon cell and 10 GW PV film facilities to come up in Pinghu, Zhejiang: At the 2023 China Pinghu Watermelon Lantern Cultural Festival and Investment and Trade Fair, Fortune Energy and HIUV New Materials announced that they have signed agreements to set up their PV facilities in Pinghu, Zhejiang. Fortune Energy's 7 GW TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility will be built with a total investment of RMB 2.2 billion ($301 million). Once fully operational, it is expected to generate RMB 4 billion ($547.3 million) in revenue for the company. The second facility, HIUV New Materials' 2nd phase expansion, will be built for a total investment of RMB 1 billion ($136.8 million) and is expected to produce 300 million m2 of new PV films annually, with its focus on product lines such as EVA and POE.
