Jinko ESS and JinYeZi Partner for 100MWh Energy Storage Expansion
JinkoSolar’s energy storage division Jinko ESS and clean energy and distributed PV service provider JinYeZi Co., Ltd. have signed a 100 MWh agreement to deepen collaboration in energy storage, covering product services, market promotion, and equity cooperation. This partnership builds on a recent supply contract, aiming to advance commercial and industrial energy storage projects.
JinYeZi will leverage its resources with Jinko ESS’ advanced technology to develop and promote energy storage solutions. The alliance includes shared resources, joint R&D, and market expansion efforts, addressing growing policy-driven opportunities in energy storage. JinYeZi highlighted Jinko’s brand reputation, product performance, and after-sales support as key factors in the partnership.
Elsewhere, JinkoSolar has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against VSUN Solar USA and TOYO in the US District Court in California (see JinkoSolar Files Patent Infringements Case Against VSUN & TOYO).
Huasun highlights HJT strategy at BNEF Shanghai 2024
At the BNEF Summit Shanghai 2024, Huasun CEO Jimmy Xu discussed the challenges for the solar industry, including overcapacity, price competition, and evolving regulations. He emphasized innovation in heterojunction technology (HJT), cost-efficiency, and intelligent solutions as keys to market leadership. Huasun plans to advance HJT-perovskite tandem cells and explore vertical applications in transportation and agriculture, aiming to expand HJT's global reach and applications while driving the industry toward sustainable growth.
Recently, Huasun Energy announced that it maintained its position on BloombergNEF’s 4Q 2024 Tier 1 PV Module Maker List (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
GCL Perovskite secures C1 Series funding
GCL Perovskite, a subsidiary of GCL Group specializing in perovskite cell and module manufacturing, has announced the completion of its C1 series funding round, raising nearly RMB 500 million ($70.31 million). Led by Goldstone Investment, this round of funding saw participation from several other participants. GCL Perovskite plans to use these funds for the construction of its GW-scale tandem production line in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, expected to begin operations in 2025. The company currently holds the world record for a stable conversion efficiency of 26.36% for a 2 m² perovskite tandem module, the largest commercial-sized perovskite module with the highest efficiency globally.
Late last month, another GCL Group company GCL Energy Technology announced delays in several renewable energy projects (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Runergy’s cell production facilities resume operations
Solar cell and module maker Runergy has announced the resumption of operations at its n-type high-efficiency solar cell manufacturing base in Jianhu County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province. The facility has an annual production capacity of 16 GW, which Runergy claims to be the largest single-site n-type cell production base in China. The company stated that over the past 2 months, the base underwent equipment maintenance, power system upgrades, and technical improvements. Earlier this year, Runergy's 13 GW n-type solar cell manufacturing base in Qujing City, Yunnan Province, also resumed operations in October following a 3-month maintenance period.
Golden Solar to build 200 MW HJT solar power plant
Solar wafer and cell manufacturer Golden Solar has announced plans to build a 200 MW high-efficiency HJT solar PV plant in Shangyi County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. The company has established a wholly-owned subsidiary in the area to manage the project and has signed a RMB 900 million ($126.56 million) EPC contract with PowerChina. This project marks Golden Solar’s first collaboration with a major Chinese power generation company. The company aims to leverage the project to promote its hybrid passivated back-contact (HPBC) module products for centralized solar power plant applications domestically and internationally, complementing its existing residential overseas offerings such as flexible modules and solar carports.
