Trinasolar named Leading Champion in Bloomberg Green ESG 50 List

Leading solar PV manufacturer Trinasolar has been named a Leading Champion in the 2024 Bloomberg Green ESG 50 list for its outstanding commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. Announced at The Year Ahead 2025 Summit in Shanghai, Trinasolar said the award highlights its efforts in integrating sustainability across its operations, from governance frameworks to product lifecycles.

Trinasolar says ESG is embedded into its strategy; it has been publishing annual corporate social responsibility reports since 2010 and targeting carbon neutrality in global operations by 2030. It applies a 4-layer ESG governance structure which ensures sustainability is prioritized across leadership, supply chain management, and production processes.

Trinasolar’s accolades include recognition on the Fortune China ESG Impact List and MSCI’s BBB ESG rating upgrade.

On the technology side, Trinasolar announced last month that its n-type i-TOPCon solar cell  had achieved 26.58% efficiency (see Trinasolar Achieves 26.58% ‘Record’ N-Type TOPCon Solar Cell Efficiency).

Maxwell launches HJT equipment manufacturing project

Solar production equipment maker Maxwell Technologies has announced the start of production at its heterojunction (HJT) cell equipment manufacturing facility. The facility is capable of producing 40 full production lines annually and is located in Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Built for a total investment of RMB 2.3 billion ($323.59 million), it covers a construction area of 450,000 m2. It includes a manufacturing center, R&D center, testing center, and warehousing facilities. The project focuses on the independent research, design, and manufacturing of Maxwell’s innovative, industry-first double-sided microcrystalline HJT high-efficiency cell production line equipment, including PECVD vacuum coating equipment, PVD vacuum coating equipment, and automation systems.

In October, Maxwell announced its intention to repurchase its outstanding RMB-denominated ordinary shares (A shares) (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Trinasolar establishes green industry fund

Trinasolar, in partnership with the National Green Development Fund and China Construction Bank Group, has established the Jianxin Xingyuan Green Industry Fund. This fund is recognized as China’s first equity investment fund jointly initiated by the National Green Development Fund and a listed photovoltaic company. It will focus on investments in clean energy sectors such as photovoltaic, energy storage, and hydrogen energy, as well as industries related to green manufacturing, energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and new materials.

Grand Sunergy secures spot in 2 GW HJT module procurement

HJT cell and module manufacturer Grand Sunergy has announced that its subsidiary has successfully signed a centralized procurement framework agreement for solar modules with Energy China. As one of the selected suppliers, Grand Sunergy secured 2 procurement segments: HJT modules for EPC projects and self-invested projects, with a combined total tender volume of 2 GW.

Earlier this year, Grand Sunergy was also shortlisted for centralized procurement projects by major enterprises, including China Green Development Group's (CGDG), PCG Power, CNNC Rich Energy (CNNC), China Huadian and China General Nuclear Power Corporation (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

2.4 GW module procurement project results announced

Chinese energy developer Shenergy has announced the bidding results for its 2.4 GW solar module procurement project for a 2 GW solar power project located in Tacheng and Buxel Counties, Xinjiang. The procurement involves n-type bifacial double-glass modules with a power output of 620 Wp and above, split into 2 segments of 1.2 GW each. Delivery is scheduled between May and October 2025.

Under Segment I, GCL SI has been chosen as the first candidate, with a bid price of RMB 0.682/W ($0.0937/W). DAS Solar was second with a bid price of RMB 0.715/W ($0.0982/W). For Segment II, Trinasolar with a bid price of RMB 0.72/W ($0.0989/W) and JA Solar with RMB 0.703/W ($0.0965/W) were the chosen candidates.
