Integrated PV manufacturer Tongwei has launched a panoramic Virtual Factory Tour (VFT) platform in partnership with third-party quality assurance firm Sinovoltaics. The platform provides global customers with a live virtual walkthrough of Tongwei Solar’s manufacturing facility in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province.
Tongwei describes the Yancheng site as one of the world’s largest single-site module manufacturing bases and among the most highly automated. The platform uses VR and high-definition 3D imaging to enable users to navigate the production process online and access technical details on manufacturing and quality inspection procedures through interactive modules.
Tongwei recently announced plans to acquire 100% equity in polysilicon manufacturer Qinghai Lihao Clean Energy (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Wind and solar manufacturer Mingyang Smart Energy Group plans to invest more than RMB 3.5 billion in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, to develop 6 clean energy-related projects, according to local official media.
Among these is a GW-scale building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) perovskite production line, which the company states would be the first GW-class project of its kind globally. The remaining projects include a floating offshore wind mother port and industrial cluster; a floating offshore wind demonstration project integrated with hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol production; a hydrogen equipment industrial park; ultra- and extra-high-voltage smart grid equipment manufacturing; and a commercial aerospace equipment park with stated capacity to support up to 1,000 satellites.
Shanxi Province’s Energy Bureau has issued its 2026 implementation plan for large-scale wind and solar power bases, targeting the development of provincial renewable energy clusters totaling approximately 15 GW.
According to the plan, each prefecture-level city is required to designate 1 to 2 enterprises for cooperation. Individual projects must have a minimum capacity of 500 MW and may span multiple counties to facilitate integrated wind-solar development. Selected projects are required to achieve grid connection within 2 years of receiving construction permits.
CGN New Energy has released shortlisted candidates for its 2026 annual solar inverter framework procurement, covering an estimated total capacity of 9 GW. The framework will supply inverters for the company’s projects scheduled for construction throughout 2026.
The tender covers string inverters rated at 300 kW or above, with a backup category for models between 150 kW and 300 kW. A total of 7 companies were shortlisted: Digital China, Sineng Electric, CRRC, Sungrow, TBEA, Kehua Digital Energy, and Sofar Solar. Bid prices ranged from RMB 0.083/W to RMB 0.102/W.
Last month, a CGN subsidiary signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Yuanjiang County Government to jointly develop a 1.5 GW integrated multi-energy project in Yunnan Province (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Wenzhou Yihua Connector Co., Ltd., which uses the CZT brand for its products, announced a delay in the construction of its solar tracker component manufacturing plant in Yueqing, Zhejiang Province. The company originally unveiled plans in 2022 to invest RMB 373.71 million in a facility designed to produce 20 million sets of intelligent solar tracking systems and related components annually, with commissioning scheduled for April 2026.
In its latest filing, the company stated that early-stage progress fell short of expectations and revised the target date for reaching intended operational status to December 2026.
