Trina Storage signs 100 MW/400 MWh standalone energy storage project

Trina Storage, the energy storage arm of global PV manufacturer Trinasolar, recently signed a cooperation agreement with Hebei Jidian New Energy Co., Ltd., the largest energy storage investor in Hebei Province.

As part of the agreement, the Leting 100 MW/400 MWh standalone energy storage project in Hebei Province will deploy Trina Storage’s Elementa 2 energy storage system solution. Trina Storage states the Elementa 2 system utilizes intelligent liquid-cooling technology to achieve refined thermal management of battery cells and system operation, helping it deliver notable advantages in safety, cycle life, system efficiency, and full-lifecycle economics.

Last month, Trina Storage introduced an integrated green energy solution tailored for Artificial Intelligence Data Centers (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

China’s solar PV and wind power utilization rates fall sharply in November 2025

According to data from China’s New Energy Consumption Monitoring and Early Warning Center, the country’s solar PV power utilization rate reached 93.7% in November 2025, down by more than 1 percentage point from 94.8% in October. This is the fourth consecutive month-on-month decline since August. The wind power utilization rate stood at 93.1% in November, a sharp drop from 96.4% in October.

For the January-November period of 2025, China’s cumulative utilization rates for solar PV and wind power were 94.8% and 94.3%, respectively, compared with 97.0% and 96.3% over the same period last year.

China mandates 1 green certificate per 1,000 kWh of renewable electricity

China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) has released a document titled Implementation Rules for the Management of Renewable Energy Green Power Certificates (Trial). The proposed rules take effect on the date of release and remain valid for 3 years.

According to NEA, for every 1,000 kWh of renewable electricity generated, one green power certificate will be issued, with each certificate valid for 2 years. Tradable green certificates will be issued for on-grid electricity from wind, solar PV, biomass, geothermal, and marine energy projects, as well as from certain market-based hydropower projects.

From January 1, 2026, when certificate holders cancel green certificates to declare green electricity consumption, the production year of the electricity corresponding to the certificate must match the year of green electricity consumption.

Mellow Energy’s 30×30 cm² flexible perovskite solar module has achieved a power conversion efficiency of 21.13%, as certified by TÜV NORD.

Mellow Energy’s 30×30 cm² flexible perovskite module achieves 21.13% efficiency

Perovskite manufacturer Mellow Energy has announced that its self-developed 30×30 cm² flexible perovskite solar module has achieved a power conversion efficiency of 21.13%, as certified by TÜV NORD. The company claims this result represents the highest conversion efficiency globally for flexible perovskite modules at the same area scale.

Mellow Energy added that it is accelerating demonstration validation and scenario deployment across multiple fields, including consumer electronics, mobile energy, vehicle-integrated PV, aerospace, and satellites, to promote the transition of perovskite products toward scaled application and commercialization.

In September, Mellow Energy announced achieving 24.36% conversion efficiency on 30 × 30 cm perovskite PV module (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

China to promote AI applications in carbon management for PV and lithium battery industries

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), together with other government departments, has jointly released an action plan to promote the deep integration of AI in manufacturing and advance the upgrading of China’s manufacturing sector.

The document sets out clear development targets for 2027, including: enabling 3-5 general-purpose large models to be applied in manufacturing; launching 1,000 high-level industrial intelligent agents; building 100 high-quality industrial datasets; and promoting 500 typical application scenarios.

Measures related to the renewable energy sector include:

  • Developing large carbon management models for the solar PV and lithium battery industries, integrating industrial internet identification and resolution with energy consumption forecasting algorithms to dynamically optimize equipment parameters and energy dispatch.

  • Deepening the integration of AI technologies in green manufacturing, and developing and promoting intelligent, green, and coordinated solutions for scenarios such as energy and carbon emission management and resource recycling.
