ReneSola starts construction on 3 GW module manufacturing facility

Solar module manufacturer ReneSola held a groundbreaking ceremony for its module production base in Anyang City. Located in Long'an District, Anyang City, Henan Province, the base will be built for a total investment of RMB 3 billion ($424.88 million). The first phase covers 50,000 m2 and will include the construction of a 3 GW solar module production facility. It will also include key production equipment for frames, mounting systems, and soldering ribbons, aiming to establish a complete PV industry chain. ReneSola stated that after the first phase is operational, a second phase will involve building a 2 GW perovskite solar cell production line, covering an area of about 40,000 m2.

Jinko Power and Avenue Capital Complete 268 MW Residential PV Power Plant Transaction

Clean energy supplier and service provider Jinko Power has reached a residential solar photovoltaic (PV) asset transaction cooperation with renowned global investment firm Avenue Capital Group, completing the first batch transaction of a 268 MW residential asset package. The 2 parties will rely on a jointly funded investment platform to commit to comprehensive and long-term cooperation in the residential photovoltaic field.

In the initial collaboration, Avenue Capital acquired residential solar power plant asset packages held by Jinko Power in the regions of Henan, Jiangxi, and Jiangsu. Future cooperation will expand nationwide. Jinko Power stated that this cooperation not only revitalizes the company's quality assets and introduces more power plant products to the international market but also further advances the company's high-turnover, rolling development ‘asset-light’ operation strategy.

In July, Jinko Power signed a green power purchase agreement (PPA) with Jiangxi Taigu Coca-Cola (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

SPIC subsidiary shortlists AIKO's ABC modules for 100 MW procurement

Power developer Guangdong No.2 Hydropower Engineering Co., Ltd. announced the list of candidates for its 2024–2025 centralized solar module procurement. With a total scale of 4 GW, the procurement includes 1 GW of PERC modules, 2.5 GW of TOPCon modules, 400 MW of HJT modules, and 100 MW of BC modules. AIKO made it to the shortlist under package 4 for 100 MW of BC modules. Specifically, package 4 requires bifacial double-glass monocrystalline BC modules of 605 Wp and above.

In August this year, AIKO's n-type ABC modules were shortlisted as candidates in the n-type module tender by Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC). This was the first time AIKO's ABC modules were shortlisted in a large-scale centralized module procurement project in China. AIKO stated that being shortlisted in 2 centralized procurement projects within 3 months reflects the market's recognition of its n-type ABC modules.

DAS Solar's DAON 4.0 module breaches 24% conversion efficiency level

DAS Solar has announced that its DAON 4.0 module, as tested and certified by TÜV SÜD, has achieved a full-area module conversion efficiency of 24.02%. The module, composed of 72 cells, also achieved a maximum output power of 610.15 W. It is equipped with the company's self-developed TOPCon 4.0 Plus cells, which have a mass production average efficiency exceeding 26.7% and an open-circuit voltage reaching 742 mV.

DAS Solar says that the DAON 4.0 high-efficiency module product has obtained basic certifications from multiple third-party organizations such as TUV, CGC, CQC, PCCC, and UL, as well as several rigorous tests, including CE certification, triple IEC, triple PID, Level 8 salt spray, sand and dust, ammonia resistance, and more. With guaranteed product quality and high cost-performance, it enables comprehensive cost reduction and efficiency enhancement throughout the module's long lifecycle.

DAS Solar announced late last month that its TOPCon 4.0 Plus technology-based n-type modules demonstrated superior performance in Kiwa PVEL's 2024 tests (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Trinasolar delays 15 GW Czochralski monocrystalline ingot plant

Trinasolar recently announced a proposal to postpone the commissioning date of Phase II of its annual 35 GW Czochralski monocrystalline facility. The company had announced its plans to build a 35 GW monocrystalline silicon ingot manufacturing plant in Xining City, Qinghai Province in February 2023, for a total investment of RMB 8.58 billion ($1.22 billion). While the 20 GW Phase I has already been put into operation, Trinasolar stated that it intends to delay the construction of the 15 GW Phase II. The company cites the current mismatch between supply and demand in the silicon wafer segment for this delay. The plant is now expected to become fully operational in June 2026.
