Croatia’s 638 MW RE Tender Undersubscribed

• HROTE has announced receiving a total of 19 offers for its 638 MW renewable energy auction
• Of the 150.086 MW combined capacity offered, 12.99 MW has been proposed for solar energy capacity in the form of 5 projects
• Maximum capacity has been offered for wind energy with 113.0 MW capacity and a 10 MW geothermal project

Croatia's 638 MW renewable energy public auction has been undersubscribed with bids coming in for a total of 150.086 MW capacity, including 12.99 MW for 5 solar energy plants, according to the country's Energy Market Operator (HROTE).

Maximum capacity of 113.0 MW has been sought for 3 wind energy plants, followed by 1 geothermal plant of 10 MW capacity, 7 biogas projects with a combined capacity of 8.74 MW, and 3 hydropower projects with a total connected power of 5.35 MW. Winners are to secure market premium within the available quotas.

HROTE said it will evaluate the 19 offers received within 30 days and make a decision about winners.

The tender was unveiled in June 2022 and comprised a quota of 300 MW for solar energy systems with a minimum capacity of 500 kW. For solar, tariffs were capped at HRK 495.63 per MWh (see Croatia's 638 MW Renewable Energy Tender).
