Pakistan based coal miner Oracle Power has secured 7,000 acres of state land for 30-year lease from the Government of Sindh to host its flagship green hydrogen project, to be powered by 700 MW solar PV, 500 MW wind energy and up to 450 MW battery energy storage capacity (see Pakistan's 400 MW Green Hydrogen Plant).
The project is aimed at producing 55,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, to be supplied to local industries to support manufacturing, fertilizer production, gas utilities, transport and power generation. Some of it will also be exported to European and Asian nations.
Touting it to be one of the largest hydrogen projects in the Middle East and Asia, this facility will make Oracle Energy Pakistan's 1st producer of green hydrogen, stated the company.
Project is coming up in Sindh's Thatta district that's close to existing infrastructure, near Karachi's largest freshwater reservoir, and enjoys good rail and road infrastructure to Karachi Port and Port Qasim. Excess power generated is planned to be sold to the grid.
To secure land, Oracle Energy Limited—Oracle Power's joint venture (JV) with Kaheel Energy FZE of Dubai—paid $1,830,000 as initial consideration for the 1st 10 years of the lease. Next payment will be paid in 2033 and 2043 and would double per every 10 years.
Oracle Energy is extending industry partnerships to realize the project with TUV SUD brought in under a non-exclusive cooperation agreement as a green hydrogen certifier. thyssenkrupp Uhdeto is conducting technical and feasibility studies for the project. The company said it is also in advanced negotiations with potential offtake customers.

"We look forward to becoming a significant producer of green energy in the region, and to supplying world markets."
