Karnataka 1 GW Tender & More

A subsidiary of Adani Group, Parampujya Solar Energy, has emerged as the top grosser in the 1,000 MW solar PV projects tendered in Karnataka under Phase-II, Batch-III of India’s flagship solar program Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).

Parampujya Solar Energy Private Limited has emerged as the top grosser in the 1,000 MW solar PV projects tendered in Karnataka under India's flagship solar program Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) Phase-II, Batch-III. The capacity was tendered by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in February 2016 under two parts (see SECI invites RfS for 1 GW of projects). A subsidiary of Adani Green Energy, Parampujya won a total of 390 MW in an e-reverse auction. In the 50 MW Part A tender, it won 40 MW, while under Part B with 950 MW, it won a total of 350 MW capacity.

Some of the other big winners in this Karnataka tender are Hero Solar Energy Private Limited with 200 MW, ACME Solar Holdings Pvt Ltd winning 160 MW and Energon Soleq Ravi India Power Resources Private Limited securing 100 MW. All had the same winning tariff at 4.43 INR per kWh ($0.07).

The Adani group's company also won the entire 100 MW tendered by SECI in March 2016 for Chhattisgarh (see Amended RfS For Chhattisgarh) at the same tariff level as in Karnataka, while quoting a viability gap funding (VGF) of 59 million INR per MW ($87,843). In Chhattisgarh, it neat the likes of Azure Power India Private Limted and Spectrum Coal and Power Limited to bag the deal under JNNSM Phase-II, Batch-III.

On the same day as the announcement of above results, SECI also put up a list of solar power project developers that won the remaining capacity out of the 250 MW tendered in April 2016 for Charanka Solar Park in Gujarat. According to the previously declared results, Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) had won 80 MW capacity for which it also entered into a power purchase agreement with SECI (see Gujarat Utility Seeking EPC). The other winners were Mahindra Renewables and Orange Renewables winning 40 MW each. Under the latest results, ReNew Solar Power Private Limited won 40 MW capacity, while Mahindra Renewables Private Limited won 25 MW capacity.
