Eneva energizes 837 MW solar in Brazil; Dominican Republic has granted concessions to 148 MW solar; Uriel Renovables has commissioned 2.87 MW solar with 240 kW/110 kWh storage system in Puerto Rico.
837 MW solar plant in Brazil: Brazilian power generation company Eneva has commissioned an 837 MW solar energy complex in Brazil's Bahia in the Municipality of Juazeiro. The project is equipped with more than 1.4 million solar panels. The Futura I Solar Complex is made up of 22 solar plants that took an investment worth BRL 3.2 billion. Industrial company White Martins will procure power from 100.6 MW for its facilities from 2023 to 2035. Eneva says the complex still has the possibility of expansion with the construction of Future II and Futura III wind farms that together could add 2.3 GW of installed capacity to the project. Eneva acquired the project from Focus Energia in December 2021 (see Latin America PV News Snippets).
148 MW cleared in Dominican Republic: The National Energy Commission (CNE) in the Dominican Republic has granted definitive concession contracts for 3 solar power plants with 148 MW combined capacity to be grid connected. LCV Ecoener Solares Dominicana will build 50 MW Planta Solar Fotovoltaica Payita I project in Nagua municipality, while Renewable Energy World Dominicus will grid connected 50 MW REWD Solar Park in La Romana province and Cotoperi Solar FV to install 48.06 MW Parque Fotovoltaico Cotoperi Solar I project in Guaymate municipality.
2.87 MW solar online in Puerto Rico: Spain's Uriel Renovables has inaugurated a 2.87 MW solar PV project with 240 kW/110 kWh battery system in Puerto Rico's Carolina city. It is contracted to supply power to US pharmaceutical company Lilly, according to local media reports. The project is equipped with over 6,400 solar modules on a fixed structure. Uriel says the structure is strong enough to withstand hurricanes that are common in Puerto Rico.
