Central New Energy breaks TOPCon cell efficiency record 2nd time in a week

CHG EnSOL holding company Central New Energy has announced that its n-type TOPCon cell conversion efficiency has achieved 26.72%. The company says this achievement has been certified by the National Photovoltaic Industry Measurement and Testing Center (NPVM). The company announced achieving 26.66% cell efficiency just last week (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

CPIA proposes standardization for solar cell efficiency measurement

The China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) has started an initiative to enhance the measurement and testing capabilities for solar cell efficiency. This initiative aims to address the significant variability in test data from different testing institutions and promote the accuracy, scientificity, standardization, and consistency of solar cell efficiency calibration, fostering long-term healthy development in the industry. As of July 24, 11 companies have signed the initiative, including Huasun, Risen Energy, JA Solar, Jinko Solar, LONGi, Jolywood, Trina Solar, Yingli, DAS Solar, Astronergy, and Winhitech.

The main points of the initiative include:

·         Enhancing the authoritative traceability of standard cells, ensuring continuous traceability to the SI International System of Units.

·         Strengthening comparative testing and technical exchanges between different enterprises to reduce testing uncertainties.

·         Improving the calibration capabilities of enterprise laboratories and production line testing equipment to maintain consistency between mass production efficiency testing and standard cell modules.

·         Ensuring that photovoltaic cell testing efficiency aligns with the reasonable range for calculating photovoltaic module power.

·         Verifying efficiency values higher than recognized industry efficiency records with a technical expert group from the Photovoltaic Association before publication.

·         Promoting the development and revision of relevant testing standards and enhancing training in testing and metrology.

Betterial launches weather-resistant coating for composite frames

Film material manufacturer Betterial has introduced a weather-resistant coating for composite frames. The company states that this water-based coating, available in various colors, has a VOC content significantly below Chinese standards, offering environmental benefits. Betterial claims that the product performs well in multi tests such as UV resistance, aging resistance, salt spray, and sand drop tests, ensuring stable operation of composite frame products in harsh environments like oceans, lakes, and deserts. Additionally, the company offers UV-curable anti-slip strips and UV repair coatings to facilitate on-site quick coating repairs, addressing issues such as stack damage and post-scratch repairs. The product has been certified by TÜV Rheinland, entered the CPVT testing base, and received the "National Quality Preferred" certification for full application scenario weather resistance.

Lifecome Biochemistry to raise RMB 80M for PV film facility

Lifecome Biochemistry has announced its plans to issue shares to raise about RMB 80 million ($11.06 million). The company intends to use the proceeds to build a PV film facility with 320 million m2 for Lifecome (Haining) Film Materials Co., Ltd. In February last year, Lifecome announced it planned to invest in a PV adhesive film facility in Huangwan with an annual output of 800 million m2 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
