Sinopec to build 10,000 solar power stations by 2027: The China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), one of China's largest oil and gas producers and suppliers, has announced the launch of an initiative to build about 10,000 new solar power stations by 2027. These will be located in oil and gas fields, petrochemical industrial parks, and gas stations. To date, Sinopec claims to have built 4,283 distributed solar power stations and aims to reach 7,000 by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan. In 2023, Sinopec's installed wind and solar power capacity totaled 1,932 MW, with solar photovoltaic power generation of approximately 1.32 billion kWh, a year-over-year increase of 200%, equivalent to saving about 162,000 tons of standard coal.

Earlier this month, Sinopec officially started what it calls the largest solar-to-hydrogen project in the world to produce 20,000 tons/annum of green hydrogen (see Sinopec’s Green Hydrogen Project In China).

Trina Solar’s orders in-hand worth RMB36.3B: In a voluntary disclosure, module manufacturer Trina Solar has announced that its order book totals RMB 36.269 billion ($4.99 billion) as of June 30, 2024. The company says that the order data is for orders that are signed but not yet delivered and does not include those confirmed to be received in the first half of 2024.

Recently, Trina Solar was awarded the Whole-process Power Measurement Control Assessment Certification for PV module manufacturers by CGC (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Central New Energy achieves n-type TOPCon cell efficiency of 26.66%: The 182 mm n-type TOPCon cell from Central New Energy, a CHG EnSOL holding company, has achieved an efficiency of 26.66% according to the certification report from the National Photovoltaic Industry Measurement and Testing Center (NPVM). The cell broke Central New Energy’s previous cell efficiency record of 26.31%, while delivering an open circuit voltage of 741 mV.

UtmoLight's 1 GW perovskite cell fab gets environmental approval: The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment has approved the environmental impact report (EIA) for UtmoLight's 1 GW perovskite solar cell manufacturing facility and innovation center. The report reveals UtmoLight’s plans to build 2 perovskite cell production lines and an innovation and R&D center in the Xishan Economic and Technological Development Zone in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. Once complete, the facility will have an annual production capacity of 1 GW of perovskite solar cells.

Last month, UtmoLight announced that its MW-level perovskite commercial modules have completed various quality inspections and been shipped to SPIC (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Xinyi Solar to build 4 new solar glass production lines: Solar glass manufacturer Xinyi Solar has signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the government of Dalat Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. According to the agreement, the 2 parties plan to construct 4 ultra-clear solar glass production lines in Dalat Banner, each with a daily melting capacity of 1,500 tons. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to generate approximately RMB 5 billion ($689.26 million) in sales revenue. This year, Xinyi Solar is also building solar glass production lines with a total daily melting capacity of 3,600 tons and supporting fully automated deep processing lines in Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province.
