Solar manufacturing in the US at RE+: For the upcoming RE+ event in California, TaiyangNews has partnered with EUPD Research and RE+ to host a 1-day conference on Solar Made In USA How to manufacture solar wafers, cells & modules competitively in the United States. At this event on September 9, 2024, the SVP of Supply Chain and Trade at the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), Stacy J. Ettinger, will throw light on how the US solar industry is helping to meet the national clean energy goals. The conference is open to all solar PV industry stakeholders and will provide valuable insights to those keen on entering the US solar PV manufacturing sector. Register for the event here.

Distributed solar partnership: Clean energy company CleanCapital has announced a partnership with community and distributed solar and storage developer Arena Renewables in the US. Together, they plan to finance and develop a substantial portfolio of distributed solar projects with a focus on community solar and corporate offtake. CleanCapital will provide a mix of debt and equity instruments to support Arena’s growth and operations.

192 MW DC project under construction: Renewable energy developer Arevon Energy has begun construction on its 192 MW DC Ratts 1 Solar Project in Pike County, Indiana, US. It is located near the City of Petersburg. Arevon has recently also started constructing a 73 MW DC Heirloom Solar Project in Pike County for which the offtaker is Meta. Together, these 2 projects represent an investment of almost $400 million and will disburse more than $86 million to local governments over their lifespans, according to Arevon.

BlueWave’s 19.8 MW agrivoltaic projects: Solar developer and owner BlueWave is working on a 5-project portfolio of agrivoltaic projects with a combined 19.8 MW DC capacity along with 29.7 MWh of storage. These are located across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) Program in Palmer, Haverhill, Dighton, and Douglas. All are expected to become operational by 2024-end. Lowell General Hospital is an anchor customer for 2 project sites in Palmer and Haverhill. It will receive 50% of the project’s energy capacity in the form of community solar bill credits.

Community solar in New York: Sustainable investment company Generate Capital and KeyState Renewables have closed their 3rd joint fund, Generate NY Community Solar VI, LLC. It includes a $64 million investment from KeyState. This closed fund was used to build, develop and manage 11 projects in New York with a combined 53.5 MW DC of new solar power capacity. Out of these 11 projects, 3 are located in areas where renewable energy development is incentivized to address higher-than-average unemployment and historic economic reliance on extraction or production of fossil fuels. These projects are expected to produce a combined 76.48 million kWh of solar energy in their 1st year. These have been financed through KeyState’s SOLCAP solar tax credit fund platform.

Sungrow storage for Spearmint Energy: Sungrow USA Corporation has entered into an agreement with Spearmint Energy to supply more than 1 GWh of additional energy storage capacity for the latter’s energy storage projects in Texas through 2025. Sungrow is providing its PowerTitan 2.0 products with advanced liquid-cooling technology. Recently, at Intersolar Europe 2024, Sungrow showcased its latest storage products along with its microinverter series to TaiyangNews (see Sungrow’s Wide Array Of Product Offerings At Intersolar Europe 2024).
