  • Oman has signed a PPA for a 2.7 GW integrated renewable energy project

  • The project combines solar, wind, and battery energy storage technologies

  • The development is aimed at supporting grid stability and future energy-intensive industries

Nama Power and Water Procurement (Nama PWP), the state-owned sole electricity offtaker in Oman, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for around 2.7 GW of renewable energy capacity with local integrated clean energy platform O-Green.

The contract for the Continuous Renewable Energy Project in Mahout and Duqm, Oman, combines solar and wind energy with battery energy storage systems (BESS), totaling 2.7 GW.

It is designed to provide stable and reliable green electricity to Oman’s national grid, providing a firm supply capacity of nearly 770 MW, according to a statement reported by local media.

As per its Annual Report 2025, Nama PWP plans to launch a procurement round for the Gulf state’s first utility-scale round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy project, comprising solar, wind, and storage technologies, with a 1 GW dispatchable capacity (see Oman Plans 1 GW 24/7 Renewable Energy Project).

According to the companies, the project represents an important step in the development of Oman’s renewable energy sector and its transition toward integrated energy systems. Such facilities can support future industries, data centers, advanced computing, and green fuels.

O-Green says it is mandated to deliver a GW-scale portfolio of wind, solar, and energy storage projects across Oman, the GCC, Africa, and Europe, to deliver 24x7 RTC green energy solutions. Currently, its project portfolio of more than 11 GW is spread across 12 nations, including more than 3.3 GW of wind and solar, and over 2.3 GWh of BESS in Oman and Botswana (see Middle East & Africa Solar PV News Snippets).
