Meyer Burger plans to expand its annual solar cell and module production capacity to 5 GW by 2026 with new sites in strategically relevant end markets, growing from 400 MW for each, which it has just started in Germany. To drive this expansion of the production sites, the company has expanded its leadership team with the addition of Daniel Menzel.
In his position as the Managing Director for Meyer Burger (Industries) GmbH, Menzel will be in charge of production, supply chain and purchasing, along with logistics and quality assurance. He will work alongside Moritz Borgmann who works at the same designation, and heads solar module sales, product management, business development and marketing (see Meyer Burger Gets Apricum's Moritz Borgmann).
Menzel comes to Meyer Burger from GS Stolpen, a stainless steel and metal processing company, and before that he worked with SolarWorld whose Freiberg production facility has been converted by Meyer Burger as its heterojunction (HJT) module production fab. Meyer Burger CEO Gunter Erfurt was also working in the past in the SolarWorld Group.
Welcoming Menzel to the team, Meyer Burger said, "With the strengthened management team, Meyer Burger is supporting its growth strategy and is now entering the next phase of production expansion."
