  • Aiko Solar has reported achieving 25.15% conversion efficiency for its ABC modules
  • It claims testing and certification from Germany's TÜV SÜD for the same
  • This is an improvement over its previous industry high of 24.27% highest efficiency

China's Aiko Solar has announced what it says and it is in all likelihood a new world record for solar module efficiency for its all back contact (ABC) panels. It has achieved conversion efficiency of 25.15% for these panels.

German independent testing and certification firm TÜV SÜD has tested and certified Aiko's latest claim.

With this, Aiko has exceeded its own record of 24.27% highest efficiency for its ABC panels and a delivery efficiency of 24% the company announced in May 2023 (see Cracking 24% Module Efficiency Level).

The Chinese manufacturer has since then been leading the TaiyangNews Top Solar Modules Listing (see Top Solar Modules Listing—January 2024).

Aiko does not give details about the efficiency improvement or the commercial availability of these panels with 25.15% efficiency, in the announcement on its WeChat channel.

It does say, "This is the first time the efficiency of global crystalline silicon modules, including the BC route, has exceeded 25%, representing the latest milestone in mankind's climb to the peak of photovoltaic conversion efficiency."

Recently, Singapore's Maxeon Solar Technologies, which is in a patent dispute with Aiko, reported the installation of its IBC solar panels with 24.1% efficiency (see World's 'Highest' Commercial Solar Module Efficiency).
