Betterial offers 5 fluoropolymer backsheets, including 4 CPC-based models and 1 multilayer variant – BPF-807
BPF-801 and BPF-801C are opaque models differing in PET thickness, while BPF-803 and BPF-803M are transparent
All models provide high tensile strength, strong peel adhesion, and dimensional stability, with slight differences in specs for BPF-801C
Betterial, a Chinese supplier newly featured in the TaiyangNews Backsheets and Encapsulation Market Survey 2024/25, offers fluoropolymer-based backsheet products in 5 models: BPF-801, BPF-801C, BPF-803, BPF-803M, and BPF-807. The first 4 models were all launched in 2020. Introduced in 2022, BPF-807 is the latest and somewhat unique in its construction. This multilayer structured backsheet consists of a 288 µm PET core, stacked with a 10 µm PU (polyurethane) and a 20 µm barrier layer on the air side. In addition, it is further protected with a coating on both sides – 10 µm on the cell side and an outer coating of 5 µm.
Of the remaining 4, which are all based on the CPC configuration, BPF-801 and BPF-801C are opaque, while BPF-803 and BPF-803M are the transparent backsheet variants. The major difference between the opaque products for monofacial modules is the PET thickness. BPF-801 comes with a 288 µm core film and BPF-801C has a slightly thinner PET film of 275 µm, whereas the inner coating of 10 µm and the outer coating of 5 µm are the same for both products.
The key differentiation among the transparent variants is that the BPF-803M comes with a preprinted reflective mesh of 10 µm, which is offered with a color option between white and black. The remaining physical parameters of this backsheet are the same as those of the completely transparent BPF-803. Both products are built with a 295 µm core PET film coated with a 12 µm coating on both sides (see Betterial Lists POE-Based Encapsulants With UV Control Variants).
The company’s entire product range has nearly the same parameters, starting with tensile strengths exceeding 100 MPa, elongation values above 100% (MD) and 80% (TD), and dimension stability up to 0.6% at 150°C over 30 minutes. EVA peel strength is over 6 N/mm for all models. Performance varies slightly across models. While most products maintain a breakdown voltage of > 20 kV, BPF-801C is rated with a lower level of > 17 kV. Also, BPF-801C has a maximum system voltage of 1,000 V DC, while the rest of the products are 1,500 V DC models. Water vapor permeability for BPF-801C is ≤ 2.5 g/m²/d, slightly higher than the ≤ 2 g/m²/d for other variants.
