  • Jolywood’s lineup includes 1,500 V compatible backsheets with dual-sided fluoropolymer protection

  • FFC coatings range from 12 to 15 µm, while core PET layers span 275 to 285 µm with total backsheet thicknesses up to 320 µm

  • All models offer ≥120 MPa tensile strength, 2.5 g/m²/day water vapor permeability, and ≥88% reflectivity for white variants

Jolywood, a China-based segment leader in the fluoropolymer backsheet category, contributes 5 products to the TaiyangNews Backsheets and Encapsulation Market Survey 2024/25. Among them is FFC-JW30(plus), which features Jolywood’s proprietary double-sided fluorine coating known as FFC. The backsheet is constructed with a 275 µm PET core and fluorine coatings of 15 µm on both the air and cell sides, forming an FFC/PET/FFC configuration. With a total weight of 445 g/m² and a density of 1.42 g/cm³, it supports system voltages up to 1,500 V. The backsheet offers strong environmental protection with a water vapor permeability of 2.5 g/m²/d, a breakdown voltage ≥ 18 kV, and ≥ 120 MPa tensile strength in both directions. Its surface reflectivity is rated at ≥ 88%.

FFC-JW3010(plus) is also based on an FFC/PET/FFC structure. It features a core of 285 μm, sandwiched between 2 somewhat atypical coatings – 13 μm on the outer side and 12 μm on the inner side – leading to an effective thickness of 310 μm. The model is available in white with a weight of 445 g/m² and a 1.44 g/cm3 density.

TFB-30(Plus) is a transparent backsheet and is also a 1,500 V product. At 320 μm, it is slightly thicker and weighs 445 g/m² with a film density of 1.39 g/cm³. It is protected by a Tedlar outer film with a relatively thin coating of 10 μm applied on a 275 μm core.

KFB-30(plus) is a backsheet with double-sided fluorine protection in the sense that the backsheet employs 20 μm PVDF film as the outer layer and a 15 μm Jolywood FFC coating as an inner layer. It has a PET core thickness of 275 μm, leading to an effective thickness of 315 μm. According to Jolywood, this configuration eases the module rework. The company claims the backsheet has good overall UV stability and is free from yellowing.

The other specs for these 2 transparent backsheets are identical. Both backsheets have a water vapor permeability of 2.5 g/m²/d. All these backsheets have the same mechanical properties: the tensile strength of 120 MPa and 1% shrinkage of these transparent backsheets are the same in both MD and TD directions, while the elongation is 100% and 90% in respective directions. The dimensional stability is at 1% in both directions. The products have an EVA peel strength of 4.5 N/mm and an inner layer adhesion peel strength of 0.4 N/mm.
