  • LONGi has introduced an upgraded version of its Hi-MO X10 solar module, with  enhancements designed to improve field performance

  • Based on its proprietary HPBC 2.0 cell technology, these modules are a comprehensive upgrade over its anti-dust accumulation 1.0 product

  • These modules also feature improved shade and fire resistance

Chinese solar PV manufacturer LONGi has launched a new version of its Hi-MO X10 solar module with improved field performance attributes, based on its proprietary Hybrid Passivated Back Contact (HPBC) 2.0 cell technology. While improved dust accumulation, shade and fire resistance are part of the upgrade, the company stresses more on the anti-dust accumulation aspect. It is a comprehensive upgrade from the company’s anti-dust accumulation 1.0 product.

“In order to develop anti-dust accumulation components, LONGi has overcome dozens of process and technical difficulties, accumulated more than 120 patents, and worked with its partners to fully deliver value to power station investors,” said LONGi’s President of Niu Yanyan while releasing the upgraded Hi-MO X10 anti-dust module at the China (Jinan) International Solar Energy Utilization Conference.

Superimposed on LONGi’s first anti-dust technology in the industry, the product features improved frame design that prevents dust accumulation more effectively. The theoretical power generation per unit area with this latest design is more than 10% higher than that of conventional TOPCon components, claims the manufacturer.

The module consists of a unique bypass diode-like structure that improves its shade tolerance.

Its temperature, under the same leaf blocking condition, is only over 80°C under laboratory and empirical tests, compared to 130°C for TOPCon modules. The module has a rated output of up to 670 W with the maximum conversion efficiency reaching 24.8%.

LONGi’s BC anti-dust modules reported an average monthly relative gain of 2.33% compared to conventional BC modules, reaching the highest daily gain of over 10% as per the results of a 7-month test conducted by China’s National Photovoltaic Quality Inspection Center (CPVT) at an outdoor demonstration base in Yinchuan from September 2023 to March 2024, shares the manufacturer.

LONGi claims to have sold 30 GW of its BC modules globally to date, 10 GW out of which are anti-dust modules for the commercial and industrial (C&I) segment.

At the recent TaiyangNews Reliable PV Module Design Conference 2024, Dante Zeng, Product Marketing Manager at LONGi Solar, discussed the main features, including anti-dust accumulation, of the company’s Hi-MO X10 series back-contact modules designed for DG applications (see Birth To Earth: LONGi Hi-MO X10 Module’s Full Lifecycle Reliability).
