  • Alishan enters the non-EVA segment with POE and POE-T, both launched in 2021 with identical specs

  • Made from polyolefin, both films offer a tensile strength of at least 12 MPa and an adhesion strength greater than 70 N/cm to glass and backsheet

  • They support lamination at 140–160°C and offer > 90% light transmittance with UV cut-off at 360±30 nm

The 4th TaiyangNews Combined Market Survey features data from 12 suppliers covering 36 non-EVA encapsulation products.

India-based encapsulation supplier Alishan has provided data for 2 non-EVA products. The entries are Alishan POE and Alishan POE-T, both listed under the non-EVA category by this new entrant. The specifications for the products, launched in 2021, are the same. Crafted from polyolefin, these films feature a thickness range of 405 to 800 µm and widths from 300 to 1,305 mm, for various solar panel applications. With a density of 0.96 g/cm³ and a clear, embossed finish, they offer robust mechanical properties, including a tensile strength of ≥ 12 MPa and an elongation of ≥ 500% (see Alishan Encapsulation Films For High-Performance Solar Modules).

These films exhibit an adhesive strength of over 70 N/cm to both glass and backsheet. The processing conditions are optimized for efficiency, with a lamination temperature range of 140 to 160°C, a vacuum time of 6 to 10 minutes, and a press time of 12 to 16 minutes. Alishan POE and POE-T ensure light transmittance exceeding 90% for wavelengths between 1,100 and 400 nm, along with a UV cut-off at 360±30 nm for Alishan POE.

Additionally, they offer a refractive index of 1.48 to 1.49, a volume resistivity of greater than 1 × 1016 Ω cm, and minimal water absorption of less than 0.1 wt%.
