RenewSys Features Fast-Cure EVA Encapsulants In TaiyangNews Market Survey

CONSERV P encapsulants from RenewSys feature distinct UV cut-off points and consistent mechanical and thermal properties

  • RenewSys’ CONSERV P 360-14 FC and P UVT-14 FC differ only in UV cut-off – 330 nm and 230 nm, respectively

  • Both encapsulants offer 15 MPa tensile strength and over 600% elongation

  • These films support lamination temperatures of 130 to 150°C and exhibit low WVTR

The 4th edition of the TaiyangNews Market Survey on Backsheets and Encapsulation covers 4 segments: EVA and non-EVA encapsulants, and fluoropolymer and non-fluoropolymer backsheets. RenewSys, a key supplier of these products, shared data for the survey across all 4 segments.

The EVA section includes data for 2 fast-cure products from RenewSys: CONSERV P 360-14 FC and CONSERV P UVT-14 FC. The only difference between them is in the UV cut-off aspect – 330 nm for the former and 230 nm for the latter. They are available in a thickness range of 400 to 650 μm and a standard width of 1,300 mm. Their density is 0.866 g/cm3. The 2 encapsulants exhibit a tensile strength of 15 MPa and ≥ 600% elongation, and a shrinkage of ≤ 2% in MD and ≤ 1% in the TD direction. Adhesion strength to both backsheets and glass is 100 N/cm (see RenewSys: Anti Acid EVA Technology For Reliable PV Module).

The lamination temperature is between 130 and 150 °C, requiring a vacuum time of 4 to 7 minutes and 7 to 8 minutes of press time. They are also identical in terms of performance attributes – limiting the water vapor absorption to less than 0.1% in weight, a volume resistivity of 1 × 1015 Ω cm, and a refractive index of 1.48 (see RenewSys Presents Comprehensive Range Of PV Products At REI 2024).
