Share Of HJT In TOP SOLAR MODULES

TaiyangNews TOP SOLAR MODULES H1-2025 analysis shows HJT steady at 16% for most of the period, rising to 18% in June

Shravan Chunduri

  • In H1 2025, HJT held 8 products with 16% share until May, before Jetion’s entry lifted the count to 9 and share to 18%

  • In 2024, HJT was represented by 8 to 9 products, with a share of between 14% and 17%

  • In 2023, entries from Risen, URECO, and Tongwei raised the count from 6 to 9, while HJT’s share stayed in the 14% to 18% range

The TaiyangNews TOP SOLAR MODULES Analysis H1-2025 highlights how different cell technologies have developed within the high-efficiency module segment. While efficiency bands covered in earlier articles provide a broad overview, a technology-based perspective offers clearer insights, as each architecture follows its own path with certain exceptions. The report takes a closer look at the progress of each major cell technology. After reviewing BC technology in our previous article, this article turns to another high-efficiency approach – Heterojunction (HJT) (see Technology Shares in Solar Module Efficiencies).

In the first half of 2025, HJT maintained a stable product count of 8 from January till May, corresponding to a steady 16% share. In June, the count rose to 9 with the entry of Jetion Solar, whose HJT module debut pushed the segment’s share to 18%. Earlier, in January, HJT’s share had declined from 17% to 16%, following the delisting of Akcome’s HJT module. Although the total number of listed modules dropped from 53 to 50 that month, the magnitude of Akcome’s exit was higher in terms of HJT's share percentage, with the count reducing from 9 to 8.

In 2024, HJT began the year with 9 products and a16% share in both January and February. In March, Canadian Solar’s HJT module was delisted, reducing the count to 8 and the share to 14%. This level held steady until September. In October, Grand Sunergy joined the listing with its HJT module, raising the count back to 9 and increasing the share from 15% to 17%. This level was maintained through the end of the year.

HJT began 2023 with a stable number of products and participating companies until May, with 6 players – Huasun, Canadian Solar, REC, Akcome, Meyer Burger, and Jinergy. However, the share gradually declined from 18% in January and February to 16% in March, April, and May, but went up to 18% in June. The reason? Risen commercialized its HJT module, increasing the product count to 7. Then, URECO entered in August, raising the count to 8. In December, Tongwei Solar debuted its HJT product, bringing the total to 9. Despite the growth in product numbers, the segment’s share fluctuated between 14% and 18%, ending the year at 16%.
