Chinese solar tracker manufacturer Arctech Solar has expanded its manufacturing footprint to India with a new 3 GW annual production facility in Mundra, Gujarat, calling it the 1st manufacturing base dedicated to solar trackers in India.
Launched as a joint venture (JV), Jash Energy will operate the Mundra Fab which is fully automated and modeled after Arctech's Chinese manufacturing facility. Here it can produce all major components for its solar tracker products. There is an industrially advanced production line for the company's patented torque tube that allows for better performance in the stiffness of solar trackers.
From Mundra which is the largest private port in India, Jash will have easy access to Western, Middle East and African markets. At the same time, the location will also provide it easy access to all major industrial destinations in Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh for the export of cargo.
Announcing the inauguration of the facility, Arctech said, "As for raw materials availability, the company is planning to go deeper in vertically integrated production, including using local steel for trackers that are made in India. It plans to work with domestic steel manufacturing partners to develop solar trackers."
Arctech started trial operations on location in Mundra in June 2022 when it said the facility will produce major components of its solar tracker products including uprights, torsion tubes, purlins and fasteners (see China PV News Snippets).
A supplier of fixed-tilt structures and BIPV systems for utility scale and commercial solar PV projects globally, Arctech says it has 6.4 GW production capacity in China and 2.8 GW in trial operation along with now 3 GW in India.
