The Bangladesh Ministry of Energy, Power and Mineral Resources has invited applications from eligible consultants to prepare and submit detailed feasibility studies for a 100 MW solar power plant in the Patuakhali region of Bangladesh.

The Patuakhali project is proposed to be located in Kalapara. Power generated will be grid-connected to the nearest grid substation.

The winner will also be tasked with carrying out the initial environmental examination (IEE) and environmental and social impact assessment study (ESIA) of the project.

Additionally, the consultant will be expected to include the route survey (RS), land acquisition plan (LAP) and resettlement action plan (RAP) of the power evacuation transmission line to the nearest grid substation.

Launched through the Rural Power Company Ltd., the EOI specifies that the work will need to be self-funded. Association with foreign firms is encouraged.

A request for proposal (RFP) document will be shared with the firms shortlisted in this round.

The details of the expression of interest (EOI) launched on May 13, 2024, are available on the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority’s (BPPA) website. The last date to submit applications is June 5, 2024.

Earlier this year, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) pledged support for another 100 MW solar power plant in Bangladesh. The Pabna-located project is the country’s 1st private sector utility-scale solar facility to secure support from global financiers, according to the bank (see Dynamic Sun Energy Lands $121.55 Million For 100 MW Solar).
