Chinese solar tracker manufacturer Arctech Solar has announced itself as the official tracker supplier for the 2 GW Al Dhafra PV2 Solar Power Project being developed in Abu Dhabi calling it the ‘largest’ of its kind PV plant in the Middle East when complete.

Arctech said it was selected as the tracker supplier for this project after a through assessment. It will supply 2.1 GW of the company’s flagship product SkySmart II trackers that it claims to be the 1st IEC-certificated multi-point parallel drive tracking system, helping to reduce project cost per kWh.

“To win this project, Arctech invested thousands of hours of engineer resources from offices in China, UAE, and Spain, analyzed dozens of tracking system configurations, and submitted more than 30,000 pages of technical documents,” shared Arctech’s President of Global Business Guy Rong.

Arctech was chosen for the Al Dhafra project by EPC services provider China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) with whom it also entered a framework agreement to cooperate for in-depth cooperation in global markets based on mutual benefits.

Al Dhafra PV2 Solar Power Project is being developed by EDF Renewables, Jinko Power, TAQA and Masdar who target 2022 as the commissioning schedule for the facility (see Financial Closure For 2 GW Abu Dhabi Solar Project).
