Grew Solar will establish a 3 GW solar PV manufacturing unit in Madhya Pradesh
The factory will have a 3-stage backward-integrated solar module production unit
The INR 30 billion facility will meet the demand for solar both in India and abroad
Grew Solar, the solar PV manufacturing arm of the Indian denim manufacturer Chiripal Group, has picked the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh for a 3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing factory.
According to a company statement covered by local media, it will set up a 3-stage backward-integrated solar module manufacturing unit at Narmadapuram near Bhopal on a total area of 60 acres. It will generate jobs for more than 1,000 people.
To be built for INR 30 billion ($345 million), the factory’s capacity will cater to solar PV cell and module demand within India and abroad.
“With this plant, we will strengthen our manufacturing base and enhance our research and development efforts for highly efficient modules,” said Grew Solar’s Director and CEO Vinay Thadani.
Grew currently operates a 3 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and plans to set up another 5 GW factory at the same location.
Speaking with TaiyangNews at the REI Expo 2024 in Greater Noida, Grew’s GM-Global Sales Sohil Barad shared that the company plans to add another 3.6 GW module production capacity in Jammu and Kashmir to take its total production capacity to 6.4 GW. It also plans a 2.8 GW vertically integrated ingot, wafer, cell capacity in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua by March 2025 (see Newcomer GREW Unveils Made-In-India PV Modules At REI 2024).
