GREW Solar Explores Perovskite-Tandem Market With 4 GW Deal

Indian solar PV manufacturer GREW Solar is entering the perovskite-silicon tandem solar module segment through a five-year partnership with US-based solar technology company Caelux Corporation. The commercialization agreement covers 4 GW of high-power hybrid-tandem modules.  

Under the partnership, Caelux will provide its perovskite Energy Producing Glass, which will be combined with GREW Solar’s n-type TOPCon technology to produce tandem modules, including the latter’s large-format G12R platform. Caelux’s Energy Producing Glass is designed to add a perovskite layer to conventional silicon solar modules. 

With these two energy-producing layers, the partners target efficiencies above 29%. Caelux plans to begin commercial production in 2028.  

The partnership is intended to support production of the tandem modules in India, and meet the requirements of India’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).  

For GREW Solar, the agreement expands its module technology portfolio from conventional silicon-based TOPCon to hybrid perovskite-silicon tandem technology. A Chiripal Group venture, GREW operates a 6.5 GW solar module manufacturing factory in Dudu, Rajasthan, and plans to scale it to 11 GW. It is also building an 8 GW cell manufacturing factory in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh, along with an 8 GW wafer plant (see GREW Solar Plans 8 GW Wafer Plant In Madhya Pradesh).  

For Caelux, the GREW Solar agreement brings the total contracted volume for its perovskite technology with module manufacturers globally to 19 GW. In July 2026, it secured two separate contracts with India’s Rayzon Solar and Navitas Solar for 5 GW capacity each (see Caelux, Rayzon, Navitas Target 10 GW Tandem Solar In India).
