Key Takeaways
  • New production line a conversion of existing float line of Pilkington North America, Inc.

  • New line to produce TCO glass from March 2025

  • NSG’s TCO glass is designed for durability and diverse applications

World's leading supplier of glass and glazing systems NSG Group has announced that its newly converted TCO (transparent conductive oxide) facility in the US has begun operations. The new line is actually an existing float line residing at Pilkington North America's Rossford, Ohio factory, which has been converted to produce TCO glass from March 2025. Pilkington North America, Inc., is a member of the NSG Group.

The conversion attracted significant investment from the NSG Group, which it did to support the expansion strategy of American solar module manufacturer, First Solar, a company renowned for its advanced thin-film photovoltaic (PV) technology, designed to deliver reliable and competitive power generation solutions. NSG and First Solar have had a long strategic partnership.

Produced using NSG’s online coating technology, the TCO glass is designed for durability and diverse applications. By forming a conductive oxide layer during the glass’s passage through the float line, the process enables high-volume, cost-effective production of coated glass.

This investment not only aligns with First Solar’s expansion strategy but also secures jobs and creates new opportunities in the region.
