  • Canadian Solar has secured a long-term solar panel supply agreement with Sol Systems
  • It entails n-type TOPCon module supply from its Texas solar module fab that's been in operation since December 2023
  • The 'significant' supply contract follows a 7 GW deal the manufacturer had landed in August 2023 with EDF Renewables North America

Canadian Solar has landed a new solar PV module supply contract for its Texas factory from US-based renewable energy company Sol Systems. The manufacturer will supply its n-type TOPCon modules, saying the partnership will scale new solar module production and procurement in the US.

The duo has not disclosed the volume, or financial details of the deal; however, it entails a 'significant supply' of modules from Canadian Solar's newly ramped up Texas module fab.

Sol Systems plans to use these modules for its US project pipeline between 2024 and 2025. Solar power developers in the US are increasingly seeking locally-produced solar modules to benefit from incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and to secure a stable supply.

Canadian Solar ramped up its 5 GW solar module factory in Texas in December 2023 to supply its modules to the US market. Its 5 GW solar cell fab in Indiana state, once online by 2025-end, will feed the Texas fab (see Canadian Solar Announces Solar Cell Fab In The US).

"We are proud to have ramped up our Texas facility in record time and started module production last December," said Canadian Solar's Senior Vice President Thomas Koerner. "We are encouraged by the significant interest in and demand for these locally made products."

He added, "Our cost-competitive TOPBiHiKu7 bifacial TOPCon module has received overwhelmingly positive market feedback, as it gives project developers the secure and long-term module supply they have been looking for."

Earlier in August 2023, the manufacturer had secured a 7 GW long-term solar module supply agreement with EDF Renewables North America (see Huge TOPCon Order For Canadian Solar Modules In US).
