Chinese solar PV inverter supplier Sungrow is supplying its inverters for what it terms as the world's 'largest' building integrated PV (BIPV) project to date with 120 MW planned capacity whose Phase I was commissioned in June 2022.

The project is coming up on the rooftop of China's 2nd largest architectural ceramic production base in Jiangxi province's Gaoan region. It comprises 11 individual rooftop applications to be spread across some 665,000 sq. mtr. area. Once the entire project is completely operational, it will generate 120 GWh of clean power annually.

The Chinese company says it has supplied pre-assembled inverters of various capacities with a storage interface, considering varied dimensions of individual rooftops.

A center for ceramic production, the industrial base requires huge amounts of electricity which it aims to cut down with the help of 100% renewable energy. "With carbon neutrality being a global goal, the manufacturers, especially those labeled energy-extensive consumption companies, are eager to offset their carbon footprint. The PV plant is an ideal solution to facilitate the decarbonization of ceramic manufacturing facilities and pave their path toward ecological and environmentally friendly development," stated Sungrow without sharing other details of the project.

However, Chinese tracker and mounting systems supplier Arctech Solar and EPC company China Power Construction Group Jiangxi Electric Power Design Institute announced the 120 MW project in December 2021 (see China PV News Snippets).

Back in June 2021, Sungrow said it supplied its inverters for the world's 'largest' commercial and industrial (C&I) rooftop solar project with 120 MW capacity in China's Shandong province (see At 120 MW, China Gets World's Largest Rooftop PV Project).
