ZAKH has launched a new facility in RAKEZ to produce solar PV modules and BIPV façade solutions
The company plans to increase solar module production capacity to more than 1.8 GW in the coming years
It plans to serve the UAE along with the wider GCC and international markets
ZAKH Renewable Energy and Engineering Manufacturing has launched a solar module and building-integrated PV (BIPV) manufacturing facility in the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), UAE.
The factory in Al Ghail Industrial Zone will produce solar modules with an annual capacity of 600 MW, along with up to 500,000 m² of customized BIPV façade solutions.
Located on a 30,000 m² plot, the facility will serve the UAE market as well as markets across the wider region and beyond.
ZAKH Chief Operating Officer Marina Strateva added, “From this strategic base, we aim to deliver high-quality solar panels and customised BIPV façade solutions that meet the evolving requirements of customers across the UAE, GCC and international markets.”
The company plans to expand its solar module production capacity to more than 1.8 GW in the coming years, which it said will enable it to serve markets in Africa, Europe and the US. In May 2026, ZAKH entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Zambia Development Agency for future collaboration in the renewable energy sector.
ZAKH operates through its flagship solar technology brand called FAERS, which originated as an R&D initiative in Azerbaijan in 2017. It is now an industrial-scale PV technology manufacturing entity producing solutions designed to perform in high-temperature and desert environments, according to ZAKH.
According to the FAERS website, it plans to expand its production capacity to support regional infrastructure and utility-scale projects, targeting up to 4 GW by 2030.
The Middle East is emerging as an attractive and competitive location for solar PV manufacturing as countries in the region expand their focus on solar power generation. This shift, supported by favorable regulatory frameworks and decarbonization targets, is also encouraging investment in local PV manufacturing.
The UAE is among the countries in the region supporting this shift, with a net-zero target for 2050. According to a 2025 Deloitte report, the country is also encouraging investment in its manufacturing ecosystem through initiatives such as Make it in the Emirates and the National Program to Transform Technology.
