Jinggong Steel and Trina subsidiary plan to achieve 500 MW sales; JA Solar’s Yiwu Base produces the first cell out of its 5 GW solar cell fab; China’s PV and tidal project realizes full-capacity grid-connected power generation; Akcome holds ground-brekaing ceremony for its 6 GW HJT project.

Jinggong Steel and Trina subsidiary partner for BIPV: Design, fabrication, construction and project management company Jinggong Steel announced that it has partnered with Jiangsu Trina Smart Distributed Energy, a subsidiary of Chinese solar module manufacturer Trina Solar. As per the agreement, both parties will jointly promote in the next five years the Nengwa BIPV distributed photovoltaic power station business, where Jinggong Steel is responsible for the implementation of the steel structure including Tiannengwa (color steel plate) system and for the distributed photovoltaic power station system. During the partnership period, both companies target sales of 500 MW of PV systems, out of which 100 MW is being planned for 2022.

JA Solar’s Yiwu Base successfully produces cells: Solar PV Panel Manufacturer JA Solar’s Yiwu Base has successfully produced the first cell out of its 5 GW high-efficiency solar cell factory, which is in the second phase. The JA Solar’s Yiwu Base was established in February 2020 with a planned total investment of RMB 10.2 billion ($1.53 billion) and a construction period of 4 years. Earlier this year, JA Solar had said it will invest RMB 3.45 billion in bringing up additional 14 GW production capacity in China and Vietnam (see JA Solar Adding 14 GW New Capacity).

China’s PV and tidal project realizes full-capacity grid-connected power generation: China’s, supposedly, first photovoltaic and tidal photovoltaic power station has achieved full-capacity grid-connected power generation, according to local media reports. The project has created a comprehensive application of new energy in which photovoltaics and tides are coordinated for power generation new mode. The power station is located in Wugen Town and has a total installed capacity of 100 MW.

Akcome 6 GW HJT project begins: Chinese solar cell and module producer Akcome Technology held a ground breaking ceremony for its 6 GW high-efficiency cell/module project, according to local media reports. The company’s original plans included building 1.2 GW of high-efficiency modules, 1.2 GW of cells and 6 GW of heterojunction cells at its Nankang base. Among them, the 1.2 GW high-efficiency modules and 1.2 GW cells have been put into full production, and the 6 GW project construction begins now. The HJT project aims to produce 210 heterojunction cells with a conversion efficiency of over 24.5%. Once the project is operational, the annual output value is expected to be RMB 7 billion ($1.05 billion). Meanwhile, last month, Akcome registered an operating revenue of RMB 2.5 billion in 2021 (see China PV News Snippets).
