Trina Solar Vertex modules perform well in windy area field tests: A study conducted by China General Certification, a third-party technical service organization, has concluded that Trina Solar’s Vertex 600W+ series modules produced energy gain of up to 8.82% compared with that of mono-facial modules. The study found that the company’s Vertex bifacial modules, tested in the perennially windy Zhangbei, Hebei province, showed no defects in electroluminescence images. The CGC study began in September 2022 and lasted for 12 months. Vertex 600W+ bifacial and mono-facial test modules were installed using 3 fastening methods: screws, aluminum alloy clamps and reinforced method (screws and clamps). The modules were positioned at a minimum height of 0.8 meters above the ground. The PV power station’s installation conditions were simulated to guarantee a comprehensive empirical study. Recently, Trina Solar forecast its 9M 2023 net profits to increase 90 to 132% (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Astronergy ZBB TOPCon module secures TÜV Rheinland certification: PV module manufacturer Astronergy has announced that it has received TÜV Rheinland certification for its ASTRO N ZBB TOPCon 3.0 module products. Zero BusBar (ZBB) is an interconnection technology that allows for the production of modules at lower temperatures, making them compatible with thinner silicon wafers and reducing silver paste consumption, thus enhancing environmental sustainability. Additionally, these modules offer improved bending resistance and increase the light-receiving area of PV cells while reducing optical losses. The removal of the busbar further enhances current carrier collection efficiency and aesthetics, making ZBB modules a promising innovation for the solar industry.

Shuangliang Eco-Energy signs deal with Shuangjing New Energy: Solar PV production equipment maker Shuangliang Eco-Energy has announced that it has signed an “Entrusted Processing Contract” with Shuangjing New Energy to supply monocrystalline silicon bricks. Under the contract, Shuangjing New Energy will process the supplied silicon bricks, for a fee, into silicon wafers in accordance with the standards agreed in the contract. The total contract value is RMB 52.7403 million ($7.2 million).

G&P Sun Energy starts construction on n-type HJT PV module facility: Module manufacturer G&P Sun Energy recently announced that it has broken ground on its heterojunction PV module manufacturing facility. The company plans to invest about RMB 1 billion ($136.9 million) in the facility. Once complete, the fab is expected to produce 5 GW of n-type HJT modules annually.

Encouraging signs from China’s 1st first pile-based fixed offshore PV project: The country’s 1st pile-based fixed offshore photovoltaic project located offshore Haiyang City and Wendeng District of Weihai City in Shandong Province exceeded expectations in terms of anti-corrosion, wind protection, wave protection and system stability. Experts believe that in the absence of mature offshore photovoltaic development models and successful experience at home and abroad, the success of this project marks China’s breakthrough in related fields.
