Trina’s Vertex S+ 450W modules found to deliver over 3% higher energy yield in a study; Huasun’s Wuxi HJT cell fab online; DAS Solar’s Weining base phase 2 starts production; ReneSola to build cell & module fab in Yandu; Mibet New Energy launches 2 offshore FPV projects.

Trina Solar’s Vertex S+ 450W module delivers 3.07% higher energy yield per watt: Solar module manufacturer Trina Solar has released the results of a study that says the company’s Vertex S+ 450W modules delivered 3.07% higher energy yield per watt. The 12-month empirical study, carried out by the China General Certification Center in Haikou, Hainan Province, also reported that these modules exhibited a lower operating temperature (0.75℃) and lower annual degradation (0.81%) compared to reference modules. The site is known for its high-temperature and high-humidity climate conditions. The company said that the modules showed exceptional reliability, with no defects observed in EL images, suggesting a longer lifespan and higher output efficiency.

Recently, Trina Solar added a thin dual-glass Vertex S+ series module to its portfolio for C&I scale applications (see Trina Solar Expands Its Vertex S+ Module Series).

Huasun’s 3.6 GW HJT cell fab in Wuxi online: Huasun Energy has announced that its 3.6 GW high-efficiency HJT solar cell manufacturing facility in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province has commenced operations. The company terms it the world’s first 210R HJT solar cell factory. It has invested a total of RMB 5.4 billion ($750.6 million) in the facility, with the 1st phase starting construction in March 2023. Huasun says that it will start construction of the 2nd phase at an opportune time.

On January 30, 2024, at the TaiyangNews Special Webinar, Huasun’s Director of Business Development Europe Christian Comes will speak on the topic – Deep Dive into LCOE: How Heterojunction PV Plants Achieve the Lowest Cost of Energy Today. DAS Solar’s Weining base Phase 2 n-type PV module production line starts production: DAS Solar has announced that the 2nd phase of the PV module production line at its Weining Manufacturing Base has officially started production. The n-type TOPCon high-efficiency PV module facility currently has 2.4 GW of annual capacity. With a total investment of RMB 310 million ($43.2 million), the base is expected to generate RMB 2.5 billion ($348.7 million) in annual revenues for the company.

In December 2023, DAS Solar announced that the open-circuit voltage (VOC) of its n-type TOPCon high-efficiency cells has achieved 735 mV (see China Solar PV News Snippets). recently reported achieving 26.36% efficiency for its TOPCon 4.0 Plus high-efficiency cell (see DAS Solar Announces 26.36 Percent TOPCon Cell Efficiency).

ReneSola’s cell & module fab to come up Yandu: Manufacturer of green energy products ReneSola has announced its plans to set up a 5 GW cell and 10 GW module fab in the Yancheng High-tech Zone. The company will invest RMB 5 billion ($697.3 million) in the facility, which is scheduled to start construction in March and production in July 2024. The company said that it will launch tenders for civil engineering and equipment soon.

Mibet New Energy’s 2 offshore PV projects launched: Mibet New Energy has announced that it has launched 2 new offshore FPV systems in the Dalipu Island and Dongshan Island offshore test areas. The company is jointly promoting these demo projects for marine empirical applications with LSMRI.
