JA Solar partners with Paramount Group; Aiko’s ABC modules show 12.04% gain over TOPCon, showing; Astronergy secures 1.05 GW TOPCon module order from CNPC; Ancai Hi-Tech reports revenue rise but net loss in 2023; Risun Group begins construction on integrated silicon solar base.

JA Solar signs strategic cooperation deal with Paramount Group: Solar PV panel manufacturer JA Solar has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with the Paramount Group. The latter is a Bangladesh-based enterprise with business interests spanning energy investment, textiles, and other sectors. Under the agreement, JA Solar will supply advanced photovoltaic (PV) products and solutions to support Paramount Group’s strategic goals in the renewable energy sector.

In September 2023, JA Solar and Paramount Group signed an agreement to be the sole supplier of modules for a 150 MW solar project in Bangladesh. Expected to be completed within the year, this project is set to be the second-largest solar PV plant in Bangladesh upon completion.

Recently, JA Solar shipped the 1st batch of its DeepBlue 4.0 Pro n-type modules for the “HKGE 48MW PV Plant” in Bangladesh (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Aiko’s ABC modules deliver up to 12.04% gain vs. TOPCon modules: Solar cell and module manufacturer Aiko Solar has released comparative empirical data between its ABC modules and TOPCon modules. During the test period, Aiko’s ABC modules showed a cumulative per-kWh generation gain of 1.95% over TOPCon modules. The gain was much higher under shading, with the ABC modules delivering a 12.04% gain over TOPCon.

The project, located in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, gets an annual total irradiance of 1279 kWh/m² with an average temperature of 23°C. Aiko Solar claims that the local shadow optimization feature of the ABC modules significantly outperforms TOPCon modules in shaded conditions.

MA Jiayu, Product Manager of AIKO Solar, presented the key features and benefits of the ABC product range (see Back Contact And Bifacial) at the TaiyangNews High-Efficiency Solar Technologies 2023 conference. Recently, Haiyuan Material announced the transfer of its 100% equity stake in Chuzhou Energy to Aiko Solar (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Astronergy wins 1.05 GW TOPCon module order from CNPC: PV module manufacturer Astronergy has announced it has won a 1.05 GW n-type TOPCon module order from China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The order is part of CNPC’s centralized procurement project for n-type solar modules in 2024, with a total capacity of 7 GW. Astronergy secured a 15% share of the total, equivalent to 1.05 GW. The company says that the order would be fulfilled using its ASTRO N series modules.

Ancai Hi-Tech financial results: PV ultra-white rolled glass manufacturer Ancai Hi-Tech has released its financial results for FY2023. The company reported a revenue of RMB 5.196 billion ($718.1 million) for the year, up 25.38% year-on-year (YoY). However, it reported a net loss of RMB 19.287 million ($2.67 million), which was down 124.9% YoY. The company’s PV glass production was 107.33% YoY, at 200 million sq. m., generating RMB 3.771 billion ($521.1 million) in revenue that was up 87.6% YoY.

The company stated that its gross profit margin of 13.06% for the year was at historically low levels. It cites squeezed profit margins on PV glass due to declining prices throughout the PV value chain as the reason for the decline.

Risun Group starts construction on integrated silicon solar manufacturing base: Large-scale enterprise China Risun Group has announced that it has started construction on its integrated silicon solar production base in Baotou Park. Located in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia, the project encompasses 5 main projects: a 150,000-ton industrial silicon project, a 120,000-ton polysilicon project, and a 40 GW solar wafer project in Tuyou Banner, along with a 10 GW solar cell and a 5 GW solar module project in the Rare Earth High-Tech Zone.
