Trina Solar’s FY2023 solar module shipments over 65 GW: Solar module manufacturer Trina Solar has released its FY2023 financial results. The company reported a revenue of RMB 113.392 billion ($15.66 billion) for the year, an increase of 33.32% Year-over-Year (YoY). Its net profit was up 50.26% YoY to RMB 5.531 billion ($764 million). The company’s module shipments for the period totaled 65.21 GW, with mounting system shipments clocking over 9.6 GW. Its cumulative 210 mm module shipments exceeded 105GW as of the end of 2023, with its energy storage systems and batteries reaching 5 GWh. Trina Solar’s production capacity as of the end of the year was 55 GW for silicon wafers, 75 GW for cells, and 95 GW for modules.

Trina Solar recently announced that its proprietary 210 mm i-TOPCon module has achieved a maximum power output of 740.6W (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Jolywood abandons plans for silicon manufacturing plant: N-type solar module manufacturer Jolywood has announced it has shelved its planned investment in an industrial silicon and high-purity polycrystalline silicon project in Gujiao City, Shanxi Province. The company announced in 2022 that it would invest about RMB 14 billion ($1.93 billion) in this facility. It had a planned capacity of 200,000 tons of industrial silicon and 100,000 tons of high-purity polysilicon. The company cites the lack of a viable plan for the designated industrial park and changes in the market environment as the reasons for this decision.

Jolywood reported that its FY2023 revenue and net profit rose 28.01% and 31.18% YoY (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Sun Harmonics’ CIGS bifacial cells achieve 32.54% efficiency: Thin-film solar cell manufacturer Sun Harmonics has announced that its flexible copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) bifacial cells achieved an efficiency of 32.54%. The company says that this has been certified by the Shanghai Institute of Microsystems (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Swiss Federal Laboratory (EMPA) had previously achieved 30% photoelectric conversion efficiency for flexible CIGS bifacial cells in November 2022.

RoboTechnik reports FY2023 financial results: High-end automation equipment manufacturer RoboTechnik has released its financial results for FY2023. RoboTechnik says a relatively high proportion of its orders are from the TOPCon technology stream. Total orders for FY2023 were RMB 2.157 billion ($298 million) in orders, as it emphasized that new orders reached a historical peak since its inception. As of April 23, 2024, the company had RMB 1.057 billion ($146 million) worth of orders on hand.
