- AMEA Power has bagged concession agreement and a 25-year PPA for a 50 MW solar plant in Ivory Coast
- It will be built for an investment worth $60 million in Bondoukou city on BOOT basis
- On completion, it will generate over 85 GWh annually and supply it to national utility Compagnie Ivoirienne d’Electricité
UAE based renewable energy company AMEA Power will build a 50 MW solar power plant in Africa’s Ivory Coast as the country’s ‘1st’ solar independent power producer (IPP) project, after it signed a concession and power purchase agreement (PPA) for 25 years with the Government of Ivory Coast.
The project is planned to be located in the City of Bondoukou, Gontougo for an investment of $60 million. On completion, it is expected to generate over 85 GWh of clean energy annually to be sold to national utility Compagnie Ivoirienne d’Electricité.
AMEA says it will develop the project on build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis, and contribute to the national ambition of increasing renewable energy mix in the national electricity generation share to 42% by 2030 (see RE Roadmap For Ivory Coast).
“The region has a great amount of untapped potential for renewable energy and green hydrogen. As AMEA Power expands its investments across Africa, we will work in partnership with governments, businesses and local communities to develop projects,” stated AMEA about West Africa where it is also building a solar project in Burkina Faso, Mali and recently it announced expanding the 50 MW Togo project to 70 MW (see AMEA Power Expands Togo Solar Plant Capacity).
