‘Largest’ Corporate C&I PPA Signed In Romania

Independent Power Producer To Build €35 Million Agrivoltaic Plant With 51.48 MW DC Capacity

  • nextE says it has signed the largest corporate PPA for green energy in Romania
  • The solar power plant based on agrivoltaic model is contracted to supply electricity to an unidentified buyer
  • The project with 51.48 MW DC/42.9 MW AC capacity will cost €35 million investment

Renewable energy independent power producer (IPP) nextE has announced what it terms as the ‘largest’ corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) in Romania for green energy. The 51.48 MW DC/42.9 MW AC solar PV project will deliver long-term electricity to an unidentified buyer.

Calling it the largest on-site solar commercial & industrial project in the country, solar energy company nextE will develop the project as an agrivoltaic installation. It will enable the continuation of grazing activities on site.

It estimates an investment worth €35 million to implement the project with 78,000 solar panels and 130 inverters on 50 hectares of land. The project entails the development of a dedicated 110/20kV substation.

“Together with our client’s team, we will deliver a revolutionary project for what it means to supply electricity in Romania and which reflects the essence of the nextE Energy as a Service (EaaS) philosophy—green energy produced where it is consumed, without impact on the transport and distribution networks, guaranteeing the consumer final security of supply and price,” said nextE Co-Founder and Co-CEO Octavian Ciucă.

The company says it targets to reach 500 MW capacity by 2027-end out of which close to 160 MW is under various stages of implementation.
