  • NTPC has signed PPA and other agreements for 325 MW solar in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur Solar Park
  • The agreements have been entered with the Indian Railways, MPPMCL and RUMSL
  • MPUVNL has also launched RFP round for 18 MW aggregate rooftop solar PV capacity in the state

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has entered a power purchase agreement (PPA) and other agreements for 325 MW solar power capacity it is installing for Shajapur Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh.

The other signatories to these agreements are the Indian Railways, Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) and Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL).

Shajapur Solar Park is planned to have 450 MW solar power capacity coming up within Shajapur district for which RUMSL had invited bids in October 2018 (see Madhya Pradesh Launches 1.5 GW PV Tender).

NTPC said in an auction held on July 19, 2021, it secured rights to establish 105 MW capacity out of 325 MW for the winning tariff of INR 2.35 ($0.031) per kWh, and the remaining 220 MW for INR 2.33 ($0.031) per kWh at the park. It is now installing the capacity on site.

With this auctioned capacity, NTPC says it has secured more than 6 GW of renewables capacity through competitive biddings. The company has also been on the lookout solar module suppliers with whom it can enter strategic agreements to source 15 GW capacity (see Strategic Module Supply Tender In India).

18 MW tender

In another news from Madhya Pradesh, the state's Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVNL) has launched a request for proposals (RFP) from solar power developers to set up grid connected rooftop solar PV projects. The projects will be spread across the state with an aggregate capacity of 18 MW under RESCO model.

Broad scope of work involves design, engineering, supply, financing, installation, testing and commissioning the systems with comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) facility for 25 years.

Launched on November 27, 2021, the last date to submit bids for this tender is December 16, 2021. Details are available on the e-procurement website of Madhya Pradesh government with tender ID: 2021_MPUVN_170303_1.
