JinkoPower achieves financial closing and go-ahead for its Saad PV project; LONGi bags 500 MW orders for Hi-MO 6 modules; JA Solar to supply modules of Qatar PV plant; Tongwei HJT double-glass module sets new record; Metal technology company Boamax expands in HJT production.
Construction begins for Jinko Power's 300 MW Saad PV project: Clean energy supplier JinkoPower announced that its subsidiary in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Al Ghazala Energy Company, has achieved the financial closing of the 300 MW solar PV project at Saad, and will soon begin construction. Three leading lenders of the region are providing long-term, non-recourse project financing to Ghazala. Hailing this development, President of Jinko Power International Business said that this is a testament of Jinko Power's commitment to the renewable industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This project is part of Category B projects that come under the Kingdom's National Renewable Energy Programme's third round of tenders. The ECP contractor for the project is Elsewedy Electric for Transmission and Distribution of Energy, and the power purchase agreement is for a term of 25 years, which was signed in March 2022 (see China PV News Snippets). The project is scheduled to be commissioned by the fourth quarter of 2024.
500 MW distribution order for LONGi Hi-MO 6: Chinese vertically integrated solar PV company LONGi said via WeChat that distribution partners from the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia have signed for 500 MW of its Hi-MO 6 modules at the 15th World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi. Hi-MO 6 modules are a new generation of products based on high-efficiency HPBC cell technology. Its highest efficiency of mass production can touch 22.8%. It was released in Dubai in November 2022 and has received enthusiastic response (see New Record Efficiency Module With Back Contact Cell From LONGi).
JA Solar to supply modules to Qatar PV plant: Over a WeChat communication, solar PV panel manufacturer, JA Solar, said that it has signed a contract to become the exclusive module supplier for Qatar Industrial City's 875 MW photovoltaic project. As per the contract, JA Solar will supply over 1.6 million DeepBlue 3.0 modules for the project. Located in Mesaieed Industrial City and Ras Laffan Industrial City, the project is expected to be officially put into operation in 2024.
Tongwei HJT double-glass module sets new efficiency record: Leading silicon and solar cell manufacturer Tongwei Solar announced via WeChat that its 210 HJT double-glass module has a measured maximum power of 720.7W in the presence of TÜV SÜD, an authoritative third-party organization. When it comes to 210 HJT cell side, Tongwei is the first in the industry to adopt bifacial microcrystalline technology, combined with advanced technologies such as high-performance target doping and light injection to achieve continuous efficiency improvement and cost reduction of HJT cells. When it comes to modules, Tongwei has adopted a self-developed low-stress, low-loss non-soldering interconnection technology, where it integrates multiple optical optimization technologies to minimize packaging loss and realize stable, reliable and efficient packaging of heterojunction cells.
Tongwei, LONGi and JA Solar will all be presenting in the TaiyangNews Solar Module Innovations Conference to be held on January 31, 2023, from 09.30 to 13.30 CET. The Conference also include a fire chat with Tongwei CTO Guoqiang Xing. To check the agenda and register for free, please click here.
