JA Solar to supply 600 MW modules to Philippines company: Solar PV panel manufacturer JA Solar said that it has signed a supply deal with Aboitiz Renewables, Inc. (ARI), a renewable energy company in the Philippines. As per the agreement, JA Solar will supply over 600 MW of its flagship n-type DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules. The modules use advanced low-attenuation technology that effectively extends the life of the module, the company added. Recently, JA Solar was one of the TaiyangNews’ Badge of Excellence Awardees for 2023, which indicates that the company ranked among the TOP 10 in TaiyangNews TOP SOLAR MODULES for at least 6 months in 2023 (see JA Solar’s Innovations across the value chain)

Energy China seals 2 GW EPC deal in Saudi Arabia: Energy China, in association with two other companies, signed an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract with Saudi Buraiq Renewable Energy Company. This is for the 2 GW Haden Solar Power Plant, which forms phase IV of Saudi PIF's project. Located in the Mecca province of western Saudi Arabia, the project is valued at $972 million and is expected to be completed by early 2027. On completion, the plant will generate approximately 156.189 billion kWh of electricity over 25 years, corresponding to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 147 million tons.

Jinchen gets land-use approval for manufacturing fab: In an announcement, solar equipment maker, Jinchen, said that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Suzhou Jinchen, has signed a land-use rights-transfer contract with the Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning. With this, the way is now clear for the construction of phase II of its manufacturing facility in Suzhou city. With an investment of RMB 400 million ($55.7 million), the facility aims to have automated production lines for solar modules, core equipment for next-generation high-efficiency solar cells, and industrial robots. The first phase had begun in February 2023, and the second phase, with an investment of RMB 200 million ($27.9 million), will be completed by August 2027.

NEA for distributed PV smart grids: Releasing its Action Plan for High-Quality Development of the Distribution Network (2024–2027), the National Energy Administration (NEA) emphasized on the improvement of the coordination mechanism between distribution networks and distributed renewable energy. It highlighted the need to study and standardize calculation methods of the capacity of distribution networks to accommodate distributed photovoltaics, considering the latest conditions. The plan also proposed to explore and develop a series of distributed smart grid projects that will target renewable energy-rich rural areas and high-renewable-energy power supply parks. The aim is to develop distributed smart grids that can support local renewable energy generation and consumption, according to the NEA.
