JinkoSolar bags SunTera BESS contract: Leading module supplier JinkoSolar said that it will supply 12 units of its utility-scale 2-hour duration liquid cooling Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) SunTera G2 (JKE-5015K-2H-LAA) with a total capacity of 60 MWh to Yangzhou Tairun for its solar-plus-storage project located in Gaoyou city, China. Known for its uniquely advanced liquid cooling system, SunTera can control the temperature difference inside the cabinet within 2° celsius, 1° lower than the industry standard, the company added. Meanwhile, JinkoSolar had exhibited its latest expansion in the ‘TigerNeo’ and ‘NeoGreen’ series portfolio at the SNEC 2024 show. Speaking to TaiyangNews during the event, the company showcased its new products in the 3rd generation TOPCon cell or HOT 3.0 technology-based TigerNeo 72HL4-BDX and NeoGreen 54HL4R-BDB series module (see JinkoSolar’s wide array of PV module offerings at SNEC 2024)

DAS Solar fab wins TÜV SÜD Zero Carbon certificate: Chinese solar PV module and cell supplier DAS Solar announced that its Zhangzhou Base facility has achieved certifying agency TÜV SÜD’s zero carbon factory standards. This means that the facility adheres to energy-saving and emission-reducing technologies, and renewable-energy-substitution technologies to maximize emissions reduction. In the zero-carbon assessment, the facility also scored high in infrastructure, energy information management systems, greenhouse gas reduction measures, and carbon offsets. Recently, the company won the EcoVadis silver medal for CSR efforts (see China Solar PV News Snippets)

Tsinghua University achieves stable operation of 100% distributed PV microgrid: The Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University, in collaboration with the State Grid Shandong Electric Power Company, has made significant progress in the technology of adaptive grid formation for new energy sources, with multi-machine peer-to-peer coordinated operation. The team was led by Professor Wu Wenchuan from the Electrical Engineering Department. The team successfully achieved grid connection and islanded stable operation of the first 100% distributed PV microgrid (without conventional power source support). The university stated that this adaptive grid formation technology is applicable for PV systems, wind turbines, energy storage, SVG, and flexible DC transmission, and can be widely used in (ultra) high penetration distributed PV networks and large new energy bases such as deserts and wastelands. It can transform new energy sources from negative loads into power sources, enabling active synchronization support for the grid.

Sineng Electric inverters for sodium-ion energy storage project: China-headquartered global solar PV inverter supplier, Sineng Electric announced that the first phase of China Datang Hubei 100 MW/200 MWh sodium-ion energy storage power station project, with a capacity of 50 MW/100 MWh, is now operational. The project uses Sineng Electric's 125 kW string energy storage inverters, forming a 2.5 MW converter booster integrated machine.
