Tongwei to supply 700 MW modules to Genertec Italia; DAS Solar receives TÜV NORD CTF2 lab certification; JA Solar's DeepBlue 4.0 Pro receives A+ rating from CGC; Guokang New Energy rolls off 1st module; Jinghui New Materials' 100,000-ton polysilicon fab starts construction.

Tongwei gets 700 MW module order from Genertec Italia: Genertec Italia SRL, the Italian branch of China National Machinery Import & Export (Group) Co., Ltd. (CMC), recently signed a strategic agreement with Tongwei Solar for 700 MW of modules. Dubbing it the largest module order for 2024 so far, the 2 companies call it a continuation of the 2023 framework agreement for the procurement of 700 MW high-efficiency modules annually.

Separately, according to InfoLink Consulting, Tongwei has been ranked 5th in global module shipments for 2023. This is in addition to the company being ranked No. 1 in global cell shipments for year 2023. As of the end of 2023, Tongwei had a module production capacity of 63 GW. The company was ranked No. 9 for year 2022, jumping 3 places to 6th for H1 2023. It now shares the 5th place with Canadian Solar.

Recently, Tongwei Solar signed an agreement with Bouygues Construction Australia to jointly promote the construction of PV projects, including its 1st single 100+ MW overseas project (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

DAS Solar receives TÜV NORD CTF2 certification: DAS Solar has secured the IECEE CB-Scheme's CTF2 laboratory accreditation certificate from TÜV NORD. The IECEE-CB is an international system for mutual recognition of electrical product safety testing. With the TÜV NORD IECEE CTF2 accredited laboratory qualification, tests conducted in DAS Solar's laboratory can now issue CB reports and the corresponding CB certificates, gaining recognition in other member countries. This enables the tested products to obtain market access certifications for entering member countries, achieving the goal of "one standard, one test, global access." DAS Solar stated that obtaining this certificate would further enhance the global competitive edge of its n-type products.

JA Solar's DeepBlue 4.0 Pro receives A+ rating: JA Solar's DeepBlue 4.0 Pro has secured the "CGC Photovoltaic Top Runner + Cold Climate Empirical Assessment – A+ Grade" certificate by CGC. This award, presented at the 19th Jinan International Solar Energy Utilization Conference, certifies the performance of JA Solar's n-type modules in extremely cold climates. The modules were installed at CGC's demonstration base in Mohe Arctic Village in 2023, which is the northernmost photovoltaic demonstration base in China. DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules were observed to have operated well even with temperatures reaching -45.3 °C and snow thickness up to 20 mm.

Last month, JA Solar announced that the Yanzhou Phase I 250 MW floating solar PV project, powered by the company's modules, was connected to the grid (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Guokang New Energy's 1st TOPCon cell successfully rolled off the production line: Akcome Technology subsidiary Guokang New Energy has rolled out the 1st 182 TOPCon cell from its manufacturing facility. The company invested about RMB 2 billion ($277.8 million) in this facility which consists of 12 production lines. Once at full capacity, it is expected to produce 6.8 GW of high-efficiency TOPCon photovoltaic cells a year, generating RMB 4 billion ($555.6 million) annually. The TOPCon cells produced at this facility are expected to hit 26% efficiency.

Jinghui New Materials starts construction on 100,000-ton high-purity polysilicon fab: Chemical raw materials and products company Jinghui New Materials has commenced construction on its annual 100,000-ton high-purity polysilicon facility. Located in Luntai County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, the company's total investment in the facility is RMB 7 billion ($972.6 million). It adopts the silane method for granular polysilicon production from a single line. It is expected to commence production at the beginning of 2025, creating approximately 1,000 new jobs.
