JA Solar tops Wood Mackenzie 2024 PV rankings; Leascend Technology ships Uranus HJT modules; Antaisolar expands with Saudi JV; Trina Storage ships 75 MW/300 MWh Elementa 2 systems; new members in 740W+ HJT Club.

JA Solar tops Wood Mackenzie's 2024 Global PV Module Manufacturer Ranking: Vertically integrated solar manufacturer JA Solar has announced that it has ranked 1st in Wood Mackenzie's 2024 Global Photovoltaic Module Manufacturer Ranking. JA Solar was one among a total of 35 photovoltaic module manufacturers evaluated worldwide. Evaluation metrics included areas such as corporate operations, economics, and technology, in aspects such as manufacturing experience, vertical integration rate, production capacity and output, global shipments, product technology, R&D strength, financial indicators, social responsibility, and third-party quality certification. Ranked 1st in the industry with a score of 82.9 points, JA Solar says that this fully demonstrates its competitive advantage based on industry influence, benefits and efficiency, quality, and sustainability.

JA Solar released 2 new module products, a 0BB high-efficiency module product solution and a single-glass anti-dust module, at the recently held SNEC 2024 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Leascend ships 1st batch of Uranus high-efficiency HJT modules: Heterojunction (HJT) manufacturer Leascend Technology has announced that it has shipped the 1st batch of Uranus G12 high-efficiency HJT modules from Meishan, Sichuan to Pingdingshan, Henan. Built using the company's in-house HJT cells, the module is said to be able to achieve a conversion efficiency of 23.82% and a power of 740 W+. With a better weak light performance, the company says the module performs better in cloudy and rainy weather, delivering 0.5% to 1% higher per Watt contribution annually compared to traditional modules.

The module uses large-size 100 µm ultra-thin silicon wafers with a bifaciality of 90%. It has a low temperature coefficient of -0.24 %/℃, with lower power loss at an operating temperature of 70 °C and a power generation gain of more than 3% compared to traditional modules. With a 0BB busbar-free cell design and bifacial microcrystalline technology, the module runs a lower risk of hidden cracks. The Uranus G12 module features a 15-year product warranty and a 30-year power warranty.

Late last month, the People's Government of Tongzhou District announced its intention to approve Leascend's 3 GW HJT solar cell manufacturing facility (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Antaisolar strengthens global footprint: Solar mounting systems provider Antaisolar has announced that it has signed an agreement with Bahra Electric to establish a joint venture and factory in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With the Jeddah factory, the joint venture aims to supply solar tracking systems and services to the Middle East. The company says that it will also pursue partnerships with local IPPs and EPCs to provide 'a full range of solutions from project design, logistics, execution to operation and maintenance' to customers.

Bahra Electric owns a 500,000 sq. m. factory area in Jeddah, which the companies believe will provide solid support. The JV aims to achieve 8 GW of annual production capacity in 2025, 15 GW in 2026, and 24 GW in 2027. Antaisolar envisions the joint venture to strengthen its footprint in the Middle East.

Trina Storage to ship 75 MW/300 MWh Elementa 2 systems: Trina Storage, the energy storage arm of Trina Solar, has announced that it will ship nearly 100 Trina Storage Elementa King Kong 2 flexible energy storage battery cabins from its Chuzhou Manufacturing Base. Calling it the largest delivery of Elementa King Kong 2 since starting mass production, this volume translates to 75 MW/300 MWh of energy storage. The systems are being shipped to a project located in the Qinghai Plateau, at an altitude of nearly 3,000 m.

4 new members inducted into 740W+ HJT Club: In March 2024, 10 companies, including Huasun Energy, Risen Energy, Leascend Technology, Grand Sunergy, Golden Solar, WINHITECH, Mingyang New Energy, Soltrend, Quanwei Technology and Akcome Technology, established a 740W+ HJT club (see Club For High Efficiency Heterojunction Solar Panels). Called the China Photovoltaic Solar Energy High Efficiency 740W+ Club, it promotes high-efficiency HJT panels with 740 W+ output

On the June 12th summit, another 4 companies were inducted into this club. These companies are: Tongwei Solar, Jetion Solar, Hongjun New Energy and Shanghai Hengxi PV. With the recent additions, the total number of members in the 740W+ club has grown from 10 to 14.
