LONGi's M6-based silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell achieves 30.1% efficiency: Vertically integrated solar manufacturer LONGi has announced at Intersolar Europe 2024 that its silicon-perovskite tandem cell based on an M6 commercial-sized wafer has achieved a cell efficiency of 30.1%. Calling it a record, the company says it has been certified by Germany's Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy (Fraunhofer ISE). LONGi says this is the first time that an efficiency of over 30% has been achieved on a commercial M6-sized silicon-perovskite tandem cell.
Just last week, at SNEC 2024, LONGi announced that its 1 cm² prototype perovskite tandem cell had achieved 34.6% (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Seraphim unveils advanced PV modules at Intersolar Europe 2024: Solar cell and module manufacturer Seraphim Energy showcased its latest modules, the Sable and Hydra Series, at Intersolar Europe 2024. The exhibition featured 6 new modules, including TOPCon rectangular-cell, HJT, and flexible modules. The Hydra Series' HJT bifacial modules, with 720 W output and 23.18% efficiency, garnered significant attention for their high bifaciality and durability. The Sable Series' 620 W TOPCon bifacial module, using advanced 182mm x 210 mm cells, offers 22.95% efficiency and reduced hot spot risks. Additionally, Seraphim's 430 W TOPCon Full-Black module, ideal for residential use, combines an efficiency of 21.3% with appealing aesthetics. Seraphim emphasized its commitment to sustainable development through technological innovation, integrating ESG principles across its operations. The company, founded in 2011, has achieved a global production capacity of 13 GW by 2024, with its products deployed in over 120 countries.
In May, Yunnan Seraphim announced the rollout of the 1st module from its 1 GW manufacturing facility (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Astronergy receives MCS certification for PV products: Chint Group subsidiary Astronergy has announced that its PV products, including the ASTRO N7 and N7s series, have received one of TÜV Rheinland's 1st MCS certificates at Intersolar Europe on June 19. The MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) is a UK-based standard for small-scale renewable energy. The certification process, conducted by TÜV Rheinland, involved rigorous testing and factory audits to meet UK market standards. The company says that this certification underscores Astronergy's advanced technologies and strengthens its European market presence.
Recently, Astronergy has announced that its ASTRO N series solar modules have received 3 world-first IEC TS 63126:2020 certificates from TÜV Rheinland at the SNEC PV Power Expo (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Trina Solar powers landmark solar farm for Casella Family Brands: Solar module manufacturer Trina Solar has partnered with Casella Family Brands to inaugurate a 5.7 MW solar farm near Yenda, New South Wales. The farm uses 8,730 Vertex 650-655W bifacial modules and TrinaTracker Vanguard 2P trackers, generating 11.53GWh annually, covering 35% of the facility's power needs.
This project is the first in Asia Pacific to integrate Vanguard 2P trackers with these large modules, reducing LCOE. Wind tunnel tests ensured stability, and the SuperTrack algorithm optimizes energy generation. Trina Solar's integrated solution provides long-term support, bolstered by a 100% score in the BloombergNEF Bankability Survey. The solar farm aids Australia's wine sector in reducing emissions, with Casella Family Brands aiming for a 50% carbon reduction by 2030 and 100% by 2050.
At the recently held SNEC 2024 in Beijing, TaiyangNews' Managing Director Michael Schmela interviewed Trina Solar's Head of Branding and Global Marketing, Yunduan Cao (see SNEC Exclusive: Trina Solar Executive Interview).
Tongwei ranks 1st among PV industry in China's 500 Most Valuable Brands: Tongwei has been named as the top brand for aquatic products and photovoltaics at the recent 21st World Brand Conference hosted by World Brand Lab. Brand value is an indicator of a company's core competitiveness, taking its social influence and competitiveness into account. Tongwei's brand value was pegged at RMB 230.559 billion ($31.75 billion) based on its financials, brand strength and consumer behavior analysis. With this new high, Tongwei ranked 42nd among all the listed companies in China.
