GoodWe and Shenzhen Institute Launch AI and Smart Energy Innovation Center

Inverter and energy storage solution provider GoodWe has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Shenzhen Institute of Computing Sciences to establish a joint innovation center dedicated to AI and smart energy.

The partnership will combine the institute's full-stack AI software and its approach integrating machine learning with logical reasoning with GoodWe’s AI-native energy operating system on its WE platform. The cooperation will focus on applications including high-precision power load and PV generation forecasting, electricity trading, energy storage scheduling, and virtual power plants. The partners will also advance cooperation on power forecasting algorithms, secondary frequency regulation, and demand response to optimize the intelligent source-grid-load-storage ecosystem.

At SNEC 2026, GoodWe revealed that it is positioning its portfolio as an integrated energy platform rather than a collection of standalone products (see Beyond Solar Inverters: Building An Energy Ecosystem).

Zhongli’s H1 Module & Cell Revenue Up 622% After Restructuring

Solar cell and module manufacturer Zhongli Group reported a 76.57% year-on-year (YoY) increase in revenue to RMB 1.478 billion in the first half of 2026. PV business revenue reached RMB 476 million, while module and solar cell revenue increased 622% to RMB 411 million as gross margin recovered to 5.7% from -12.8% a year earlier.

While the high growth rate reflects a low comparative base following the restructuring period in early 2025, the company posted a net profit of RMB 115 million, largely supported by RMB 187 million in debt restructuring gains. It remained at an adjusted net loss of RMB 84.67 million. Zhongli Group said it is expanding into overseas markets, with its manufacturing arm, Talesun Solar, now mass-producing full-series n-type TOPCon modules while continuing R&D in BC, HJT, and perovskite tandem technologies.

Energy China Shortlists 16 Vendors for 20 GW Inverter Framework Procurement

Energy developer Energy China (CEEC) has released the preferred bidders for its 2026 centralized PV inverter procurement, with an estimated total capacity of 20 GW. The tender is divided into 8 lots: 2 for central inverters rated at 3.125 MW and above, and 6 for string inverters covering multiple power ratings of 5 kW and above. Energy China did not disclose the specific procurement capacity for each lot.

A total of 16 companies were named as preferred bidders, including Sungrow, TBEA, Sigenergy, and Solis.

In May, CEEC started construction on a 900 MW solar thermal and PV project in Damxung County, Lhasa, Tibet (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Haining China Leather Market Issues RMB 260 Million Green Bond to Acquire Distributed PV Assets

Haining China Leather Market Co., Ltd., a developer, lessor and service provider for specialized leather markets in China, has issued a RMB 260 million green bond. The proceeds will be used to acquire 42 PV project companies under Zhejiang Shengmao New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., comprising 107 distributed PV plants with a combined capacity of 112.42 MW. The transaction is valued at approximately RMB 266 million.

Haining China Leather Market already operates distributed PV projects at its own markets. The company said the acquisition reflects the long-term and stable investment returns it sees in C&I distributed PV. It plans to continue expanding industrial rooftop distributed PV and associated energy storage projects across the Yangtze River Delta.
